Kudler Fine Foods Integrative Network Design Project
Kudler Fine Foods has requested for an overhaul of its computer network infrastructure to a more efficient networking system to provide broader network communications to other stores. The service request calls for changing the administration network to a WLAN, design a WAN to link all of it stores, and add VoIP to all stores.
Kudler Fine Foods need to communicate to its entire store locations so a Wide Area Network (WAN) needs to be designed with keeping the network within its budget and high end service in mind. To meet this requirement Kudler Fine Foods will purchase a Frame Relay service from its telecom provider. There are other methods for designing WANs then using a Frame Relay like X.25 and ATM, however, my initial choice was based by performance measures, cost, and network expansion to Kudler Fine Foods network requirements. All of its store locations will be using full and fractional T-1 lines which its headquarters location will use full T-1 while other locations will use fractional. In addition, the equipment used in the WAN design will be Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) and routers with plug-in WAN Interface Card (WIC) that will provide and efficient communication link to all of its stores.
Further, a dual-hub network topology will be the used to expand the network as well as reduce the number of Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) connections while still maintaining redundant connections for faults that occur. A dual-hub network will allow Kudler Fine Foods to choose a one of its locations to serve as a second hub that makes PVC connections any other location from this location. This is an ideal network to keep communication services running in case of a disaster such as a fire, flood, or an act of nature.

The administration network needs to be changed to a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) which will consist of two main components: wireless enabled devices (integrated desktops, laptop PCs, and handheld devices) and wireless access points (routers). The next step is to configure the WLAN by installing the access point the wired LAN using an Ethernet cable also software is issued with the access point that will allow one to assign a network name and an encryption key. Next, we need to connect all workstations, laptop PCs, and handheld devices to the network. Last, is to secure the WLAN by changing all default classes of the router such as the SSID name, user name and router password, broadcast beacons, and automatic set-up function. In addition, all handheld devices will need to be approved by management and configured by the IT department to ensure the highest level of security measures are applied. VoIP will also be installed at all three locations which will consist of establishing a working IP network, and installing voice interface cards. Next, we will integrate a dial plan and telephony network into the existing IP network topology. Last, we need to configure VoIP on the routers to support real-time voice traffic, separate DLCIs for voice and data by providing a separate sub interface for voice and data, applying adaptive traffic shaping to both DLCIs, use RSVP or IP precedence to prioritize voice traffic, use compressed RTP to minimize voice packet size, and use weighted fair queuing to manage voice traffic. The La Jolla store will be the headquarters that will house the centralized server, however, with the dual-hub network topology network services will still be functional is something would cause the server to fail or go down as explained earlier another location will serve as a secondary hub that can enable PVC connections from another location.

When you convert a digital signal to an analog signal you must use a converter and in this case the converter is a DAC (digital-to-analog converter). What the DAC does is it accepts the discrete binary value and it will convert them into a continuously varying value of an analog signal.
