Nuclear energy is energy than is generated from nuclear fission nuclear fission is when atoms are split. The elements used in nuclear power are Uranium and Plutonium. Fossil fuels are fuels that are formed from dead plants and animals. Nuclear power really got started in 1945 but scientists were studying radioactivity and their properties since 1895. The fossil fuel coal has been in use since 1,000 BC but during the industrial revolution is when Coal really got started. But fossil fuels are dirty they pollute the earth and it is dangerous to mine them. That is why nuclear energy is better. A couple of years later two German physicists Otto Frisch and Rudolf Peierls in 1940 they wrote a 3-page document and the document stated that 5kg of …show more content…
it is safe enough for long-term energy production as long as it is well taken care of it will be safe. There are a different kind of nuclear reactors back when atomic power was just starting to take off there were reactors that had to be human controlled, and if the operator messed up, then the plant could go unstable and explode and cause a massive disaster. Nuclear power is efficient for the environment it barely emits any carbon dioxide to hurt the atmosphere, and uranium emits more energy than any fossil fuels ever could and it is sustainable for years. Also, Nuclear power generates a lot of jobs and money for the economy nuclear power creates 100,000 new jobs and brings in about 50 billion dollars a year for income (NEI.) How is atomic energy produced? Nuclear energy is generated by nuclear fission which in a reactor balls of uranium pellets are inside the reactor and are heated up to cause the atoms to split, and inside the reactor, there is a coolant usually water to prevent the overheating of the reactor which would produce a meltdown and an explosion. Nuclear energy and nuclear proliferation are related, we will discuss atomic proliferation is the spread of nuclear weapons fission materials and other things. Which is a bad thing for countries that are not NPT recognized which are countries that possess nuclear weapons and materials the nations that own such things are the U.S Russia China France and The United Kingdom.
