...Roodlyne Calixte March 5, 2014 Class: 10:00 am Prof: Fuller When I’m going to register I will choose the morning classes because I have to work in the afternoon. The Charlestown campus is more reliable and have student parking lot, that’s where I’m planning to take all my courses. The nursing division requires taking the pre-requisites, the college level in order to get accept into the program. Now I’m doing the general concentration and then to the college level. I’m qualified to receive financial aid and some books vouchers because I’m low income and single parent. I work Monday to Friday from two to nine pm; I normally do my homework or study at work if not too busy. I don’t have to worry much about my family beside my five years old son; he suffers asthma that can be tough to deal with. My two challenges during the school year are. First is to focus, as a single parent, being a student, to work and to provide is not that easy. Second is my math class can be little hard for me, I have to come with a solution by hiring a private tutor and meet for two hours every Tuesdays in order to be successful. I feel like I’m doing much better than before. I have a chance to sit down with an advisor and to go through the course program and to figure out which class that I’m going to need. My next plan is to register for nine credits or more. I enjoy coming to school at Bunker Hill, I will be spending another four years to finish with the program and maybe transfer somewhere...

...Charise Jones for your generous scholarship that you are offering. I know Charise very well she is my neighbor, and good friend. We have been friends for about 12 years now. Charise is a very dedicated. Charise has proven to me her dedication by her school work habits. No matter what is going on in her life she has demonstrated that her school work comes first. When ever I stop by her house, she is doing homework or studying. Another example is when my wife and I invite her for a camping trip or any other outing; she will not participate until she satisfied with her school work. Charise has a caring heart and loves to help people. Over the years since her mother passed away she has been letting people in need live with her. On several occasions she has moved in single mothers with multiple children in her home and cared for them selflessly. She is currently letting two single mothers with children stay with her until they can get back on their feet. Regardless of her very low income she won’t turn them away. I strongly believe in Charise. I know that she is dedicated to the nursing program and will succeed with out a doubt. She is a very worthy candidate for the generous scholarship that you are offering. I know that she is very grateful for the opportunity to be in the program, and I strongly support her. If I can be of any further assistance, or provide you with any further information, please do not hesitate to contact...

...How to Survive College Life Holding hands image by paolanogueras from Fotolia.com Somewhere between registering for classes, late-night partying and cramming for tests, a nursing student must learn to cope with a tremendous amount of stress and adjust to a new life away from home. A 2008 study conducted by the American Psychiatric Association revealed that 49 percent of college students experience "overwhelming anxiety." To prevent becoming a part of that statistic, use a few skills, tips and techniques that will leave you feeling like a successful, healthy and stress-free college student. Instructions In this study, it is suggested to manage time by writing down all homework assignments, projects, tests, quizzes, meetings and important due dates in a day planner. Plan time to relax and take a break from studying. If you plan to spend a night out with friends, budget your time during the day wisely and make sure you get enough work done to make up for the time spent on social activities. Students are encouraged to join various clubs and learning communities available at school. They are advised to become familiar with the resources available to students on campus, such as gym access, which is typically free for full-time students, the bus or transit system and tutoring services. To stay healthy, a full night of sleep each night is also advised as well as drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Tips & Warnings * Learn about the programs and activities before...

...consistency and persistence in order to let one’s study habit stay in our lives. Attaining one’s ideal study habit is a long- way process. Mark Crilly (2000) said that “Successful students are able to balance social activities with good study habits.” A diversion from studies will alleviate stress and help prevent from becoming fatigued. He said that a student should make sure that he must take a break for an hour after studies to meet with friends, to play some cards, work out at the gym, or to gab with anew acquaintance. For this way, that student will find concentration when he do study, if he plans a social activity afterwards. He said, “To develop a healthy social life, develop routine study habits. After supper, lug your books and homework to the library, find a comfortable and quiet niche, and study for two or three hours, taking intermittent 10 minute breaks every 45 minutes or so.” Making friends with whom you share similar study habits, and share a table or a study space with them would be a best way in developing...

...Frank Pogue (2000) did a research project to determine why students fail. What he founds to be true in that study habits survey was that more than 30 years ago still rings true today-students fail because they do not know how to study. The best advice he can give is to develop sound study skills. He said that a student should make sure that he/she has a good study environment, a good desk, a sturdy chair, good light, comfortable room temperature and a quiet atmosphere. That means he/she should eliminate all external and internal distractions. Second, get a good overview of the assignment before starting the work. Know what skills, facts and ideas that are expected to master and the ground that are expected to cover. Start with most difficult subjects first, while the mind is freshest and most receptive. In his experimental study on the effect of learning, Winter stated that the first and probably the most important thing needed was to acquire the habits of studying effectively. Effective methods of study consisted basically of those fundamental principles which under laid efficiency. Doing one’s work regularly, staying at it until it was done and not getting behind in it should be the general guides for successful study as well as in any field of endeavor. It was assumed that the pupils had ability enough to cope successfully with the academic tasks. The success of the responses to the task depended in great measure to their efforts. As postulated by Credé and Kuncel (2008)...

...INTRODUCTION There is little doubt that no two people study the same way, and it is a near certainty that what works for one person may not work for another. However, there are some general techniques that seem to produce good results. So I decided to concentrate on working for this research because it’s very important for the readers to read this so that they have to step up in learning styles. My purpose of doing this research is to develop myself and to serve this thing as stepping stone to make a thesis and in consideration in making a book. Now I am making this just to show you how the proper process of learning is. The purpose of this research is to provide us significant ideas about real learning styles, study skills and thinking skills in analyzing some neither questions nor problems that we don’t know and to improve and enhance our memory in studying some lessons in a book. It also improves us to organize our studies, express our ideas clearly and effectively and how to communicate with others clearly and fluently. The first part of this research is focused on defining the three bodies of skills and you will know the utilization of effective language-learning strategy is. These three bodies of skills approaches us to have more experience on how to learn to be critical to success in school, considered essential for acquiring new good grades and useful for learning through out’s life. Of course this convinces us that these skills can be applied in other areas...

...999 Park Ave Bridgeport, CT, 06604 November 19, 2011 Diane Mirvis 126 Park ave Bridgeport, CT 06604 Dear President Mirvis: Hello, my name is XXX, and I am an international student. The library is being the most popular place in Univerisity of Bridgeport because of your work hard. However, most of the students say that the network service needs to improve. If students are satisfied with the network, they would prefer study in the library. The solution is to upgrade network service which just cost few money. It benefits for everyone who studies or works in the library. There is a serious problem be concerned University of Bridgeport students who study in the library. I often study in the library. One of the network problems is network instability. For example, I have to research some information about my assignment, because my first language is not English, I always research more academic information after class or look up the unknown words in an online dictionary. However, I have to connect the UB network approximately every five minutes. I was really bothered by the unstable network here. This action which is frequently loggeing on to the internet makes my learning efficiency lower, because I cannot focus on the studying. The unstable network not only bothered me, but also bothers my friends. There are a statistic for this issue. My four friends...

...able to help the other one with a problem. Deal with cramps right away. When there’s something you don’t understand, you may be tempted to just put it aside and hope for the best. That strategy doesn’t work at all in math! Because everything builds, if you don’t understand A you will probably not understand B and C either. If this happens in class, ask a question right away. Don’t apologize and don’t worry about looking stupid; probably other people have exactly the same question. Outside of class, use the Baker Center tutors or talk through the problem with your study buddy. Visit your instructor during office hours or make an appointment for another time. Warm up before the event. Before class, look back over the readings and your homework. Make sure you are ready with any questions. Stay in training. Review your notes after class, even rewrite them to make sure you understand everything. If there are several days between classes, review the material at least every other day to keep it fresh in your mind. Make sure you train enough. The College recommends 2–3 hours per classroom hour, but you may need more. Recognize especially that in the summer you’re making a big time commitment. If your class meets five days a week for an hour and 40 minutes a day, that’s two 50-minute classroom hours, which means you should expect to study 4–6 hours per night, every...

Evaluate the worthiness of the study. Discuss the value in systematically studying the topic, rather than relying on common sense. Determine whether it would it be appropriate to fund this research with publicly-funded grants. Suppose that you are lab assistant (or graduate student) to the researchers who wrote the article. Suggest what you would do to follow up with the study. Then, identify a logical next step. Examining the Effects of Location, Neighborhood Social Organization, and Home Literacy on Early Cognitive Skills in the United States The purpose of the article is to show the different factors that affects or influence the development of children. “This study investigated the effects of community locale, neighborhood social organization, utilization of community cognitive developmental resources, and home literacy on early childhood cognitive skills”, (Froiland, 2011). ...my head. The best way and the only one to obtain knowledge is by studying. Study habits are one of the essential tools that I must obtain or enhance in order to be successful. It’s not something that can be brushed off. Having a good study habit, avoiding distraction, and having a strong resolve has lead me to accomplishing my first semester here at TC3. When tackling assignments I had to make sure to plan well in advance; break down projects into manageable chunks, and setting goals along the way. Completing homework and class readings on time and avoid waiting until the last minute for important deadlines. Studying involves reading the textbooks, understand them, being able to explain it to others and sometimes memorize the most important concepts. It is important to have a special place and a special time to study. I try to find a peaceful place and also try to study during the times that work best. While studying, I also use this time to do the homework and assigned reading. I still need to learn to be good on time management skills. Learning to balance school, family and social life is one of the most important things to learn and I am still struggling...
