Why I Want To Be A Placer FFA Officer

...My desire to play soccer dates back to my kindergarten years. Though now that I am a junior in high school, I train younger soccer players that have the same passion and work ethic as I do. I train them, just as I was trained, to learn and understand every position so that they become a versatile player. I give the same chance to these players that was given to me. Though, I have been a soccer player for nine years, I am also a Miner's Ravine 4-H officer and a Placer FFA officer. These two organizations have opened my eyes to agriculture, leadership, and community service. Between these two groups I put in hundreds of hours into my lamb project, being an officer, and community service. Throughout my time in agriculture, I have developed...

Research Strategy Paper

...Research Strategy 1 Research Strategy 2 Research Strategy Paper All my life I have been thin because I was so active in dance and drill team. As I grew older I was able to stay thin working retail for 5 years. I was on my feet and unloading merchandise for eight to ten hours a day. I was able to eat what ever I wanted and not see the effects. When I quit retail I moved to a desk job but kept my eating habits the same. It has slowly caught up with me. I have put on twenty pounds in two and half years. It doesn’t help that as people get older their metabolism slows down. I also live alone and eat out a lot. My problem would be to eat healthier. I go to the grocery store and don’t know where to being to find foods that are healthy for me. We all know fresh fruits and vegetables are healthy but what about all the food in between. For example: meats, soups, desserts, TV dinners, low fat and low sodium products. Just because a product may say low fat, does that mean it is good for me? Information Gathered I wanted to gather information on healthy food choices. I don’t want any quick diet fixes. I want to make a lifestyle change. I want to reach my goal weight but be able to keep that weight from ever coming back. I started my search at the University Library. I selected the database ProQuest for health information. I first started by searching “eating healthy” but that just brought me to the results for people with certain diseases and how they can eat healthy...

Diet And Synthesis Essay

...The motivations to choose Nutrition and Dietetics as a profession differ from external to internal factors. A study shows that the interdisciplinary nature of this career and the chance to connect with patients are the top influencers of selecting this choice (Lordly and Dub 169-175). However, this interest should be reinforced by understanding the way academic education, training, and experience shape the identity of a successful dietitian. Moreover, having a clear view of the working conditions, the future prospects, and the potential opportunities provided in this area is fundamental to make a final decision (Brady et al. 117-121). One must also take into consideration the personality traits of a successful dietitian and their impact on one's future in this career . The most important step of pursuing a career is to comprehend where to start and how to begin the journey. For those interested in Nutrition and Dietetics, it is challenging to realize the demands of careers in this field. (McConkey 356-360). To be a nutritionist or dietitian requires a bachelor's or master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics or any program related to this field such as foods and nutritional sciences, human nutrition, etc ("Education."). ...Harassment: The effects of “eve teasing” on development in Bangladesh The Hunger Project • 5 Union Square West • New York, NY 10003 • www.thp.org Imagine for a moment that you are an eleven year old girl in Bangladesh. After helping your mother cook and serve breakfast, you are preparing for school. You should be excited. You like learning and school provides a reprieve from the drudgery of household chores. But you are not excited. Instead, you are filled with dread. That is because every day, on the long walk from your house to school, you are surrounded and teased by a group of boys. The boys yell indecent things at you. They laugh. They push, pinch, and grab at you. Sometimes they pull at your clothes so violently that you are afraid they will be ripped right off of your body. By the time you get to school, your face is hot with humiliation and your eyes sting with the fear that you will have to go through the whole thing again on the walk home. *** The Insidious Everyday Reality Sexual harassment, often known as “eve teasing”, is a regular occurrence for the women and girls of Bangladesh. A recent study by the Bangladesh National Women Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA) showed that almost 90 percent of girls aged 10-18 have undergone the experience. The harassment can take a variety of forms and the perpetrators come from multiple walks of life; they are rich and poor, educated and uneducated; according to the BNWLA study, teenage boys, rickshaw pullers, bus drivers...

Heifer International Research Paper

...national project, and later in 1944 the charity turned into an actual company and West sent his first 17 cows to Puerto Rico. How does it work? Heifer International donates livestock or training to families in areas that are known for having a long history of poverty. Through training these communities can learn to care for their environment so their animals and future animal offspring can live off the land and can be useful to their owners. Once a family accepts a Heifer gift, they agree to “pass on the gift”. This is when the original family that received the first gift, gives an offspring of that animal to another family that is in need. By doing this, that family is providing a means for another family to survive off of and in return they can feel good, because they have become donors themselves. Who benefits from this? The main people that benefit from the Heifer program are the people that take part in it. With this program, poorer communities can enrich their communities by, creating sustainability and self-reliance; the participants in this program are empowered to take charge of their own success. This allows for communities to work with each other at the lowest level possible, and lets these communities decide on what kind of animal they want and what assistance they need. When taking part in this program, the groups that Heifer works with are expected to have full participation. Also, the environment in which the animal is given benefits from this project as well...
