To discuss five core strategies of the OJJDP Comprehensive Gang Model one first needs to identify what is the OJJDP Comprehensive Gang Model. The OJJDP supported the development of a project to reduce and prevent gang violence among youth. The creator of the Comprehensive Gang Model was Doctor Irving Spergel who developed the model in 1987, which was comprised of five strategies for dealing with gang-involved youth and their families.
