...OKLAHOMA CITY--In West Virginia University's 11-10 loss to TCU in the Big 12 Championship, Ross Vance put everything on the line. Vance came in and relieved starting pitcher Michael Grove in the first inning on Sunday afternoon after the Horned Frogs took a 4-0 lead. The "Magic Man" once again put on quite a show, just as he had done on Wednesday. He pitched a solid 6.1 innings, surrendering four runs, (three earned) on 10 hits. Vance recorded a Mountaineers Big 12 record, 12 strikeouts. “They told me to be ready in the first in case his knee starting acting up again," Vance said. "I was down there ready to go and I thought he doesn’t deserve these runs. I got out of it without too much damage hurt. I was trying to keep the team in it and keep it close so we could come back like we did.” This comes after the senior southpaw had a phenomenal outing against the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday morning. He came in to relieve and injured Grove and tossed 8.2 innings of shutout baseball, giving up just one hit and fanning seven. Vance stranded leadoff hitter Alex Wise on third in the first inning and the high-kicking pitcher was merely un-hittable the rest of the afternoon. “It’s unbelievable what we’ve asked that kid to do," WVU head coach Randy Mazey said. "Not many pitchers can do what he did this week, to step in there on short notice. For us to come in there and say, ‘Hey Ross, you’re the guy to come in the game in case someone gets hurt so be prepared.’ He came in a struck out...

...The one important quality that a student should possess is to be well rounded. Elizabeth is earning high grades and is part taking in extracurricular activities which is making her a balanced individual. The type of person Elizabeth has the potential to be is a hard working women that care about making a difference in this world. Elizabeth might be part taking in the Make A Wish Foundation; helping enrich the kids suffering from life threatening illnesses or involved in a foundation for teacher advancement called Carnegie. Elizabeth likes reading, kids K-6, Sudoku, Jeopardy, and is family oriented. She does not like going out partying, drinking, smoking or watching too much television. Elizabeth should be very concerned about what to do after high school graduation because she controls her own destiny, whatever she wants to do, she can do it. She needs to enroll at a very good public/private university where she can excel and expand her knowledge in her field. I believe she wants to major in education, because she is taking AP English and is tutoring students in elementary school. Elizabeth is not only doing it to spice up her college application, she is doing it because that is what makes her happy; making kids eager to learn. The Four Collages Elizabeth got accepted to are: * University of Maryland at College Park * Towson University * Michigan State University * Penn State University These four universities are known for some of the best liberal arts program...

Finally, my most heartfelt thanks go to my family for providing an environment in which writing this textbook was a pleasurable challenge. My daughter, Kalena Margaret Miller, was born while I was writing the first edition of this textbook. I’m amazed that she is now about to graduate from high school—a young woman who continues to love learning and increasingly challenges my ideas with her own experiences and insights. She is a delight and an inspiration. Finally, my husband, Jim Stiff, provided the inspiration to...

...Every year the CAU Survey is conducted by business students such as me and my colleague and every year we learn how students truly feel about our institution and what we all as a whole need to do to make this a better place for students and staff alike. Conducting the CAU survey was an experience in which we learned our university is still upheld high by a lot but also a letdown to many. The Interactions my colleague and I had with seniors and grads showed us that other majors aren’t as engaging with students as the Business School is with theirs. This notion is disappointing and makes us feel privileged to be in the business school, but also discouraged that my fellow classmates don’t get the best out of this University. Each department needs to meet expectations and even better exceed expectations for each student in every major to have a fulfilling college experience. The surveys give the university the opportunity to receive feedback on the perspective of students and their views and opinions about their experience. It’s very important that the University is achieving their goals as an educational institution, if their doing their jobs and playing their roles as faculty and educators, what they need to improve on, and if they’re as a university making an impact in the community. A sense of involvement was created through this assignment as group members reached out to fellow colleagues, it made members feel identified with the university and that we as students have a...

...Essay Research 15 Oct 2014 Pathway To Nursing When everyone was once a child, one of the most common question that was asked was, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" As a child, of course our answers would vary, from being a police officer, to being a fire fighter, to being a model, to being a fashion designer, and etc. My response was, "I want to be a nurse!" I always seeked an interest in helping others who were sick, in need, and couldn't care for themselves. In the year 2005, my grandmother was feeling really ill and was rushed to the emergency room. As her illness worsened, she ended up with memory loss and was later in a coma. After a few months passed, she took her last breath on her hospital bed. From the moment I watched my grandmother lay in a hospital bed, sick and weary, I knew that being in the medical field was what I wanted to pursue. After obtaining my associates degree at Miami Dade College, the first university that I wish to matriculate to is the University of Miami. The University of Miami is a university that is well known for its nursing program. Who wouldn't want to go to one of the top health schools in Florida? The University of Miami is known to be ranked as number 20 in the nation and number one in the state of Florida as one of the top Schools of Nursing and Health Studies (Schools of Nursing and Health Studies). I believe that the University of Miami is a wonderful school and I would be proud to call the "Home of the Hurricanes" my...

...Strategic Plan Analysis --- University of Miami I have been to university of Miami visiting my friend at winter last year. When I first arrival there, I was amazed by her beautiful campus view and I felt warm, energetic, friendly come from their students, employees. So when professor talk about analysis a university, I decide to talk about university of Miami.
