Picture writing a perfectly great essay on a computer/laptop, yet soon after it ran out of battery and it shuts off without it saving. The title is important because it hides a meaning in it in “Of Mice and Men.” This relates to the theme of the novel because of what went on. A specific quote supporting speaker’s role as a symbol in the novel. Of Mice and Men has its hidden meaning and similarities, but also supporting a speaker’s role in a quote.

Of Mice and Men has it’s own title come from a poet’s poem and also a meaning. The poet is Robert Burns and his poem is called,”To a Mouse”. To a Mouse talks about being either a mouse or a man and how life is cruel. The mouse was the victim of the man who ruined the mouse’s nest, which the mice worked so hard on but the man plowed it down while he was plowing the field basically saying deal with it. Both mice and men are similar because they both suffer and die to the very end. …show more content…
In chapter one, George and Lennie made a dream of owning a ranch and having a simple life, but it can not happen because of what Lennie did. Lennie resembles the mice in the poem suffering from not remembering what he does in the past or future like petting the girl’s dress or animals to their death.

“Guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. They got no family. They don't belong no place. They come to a ranch an' work up a stake and then they go inta town and blow their stake, and the first thing you know they're poundin' their tail on some other ranch. They ain't got nothing to look ahead to.”

George resembles the man who is working on the ranch by plowing the fields who happens to stumble onto Lennie. With George knowing the what he did with Lennie, he knew the dream of owning and living on their ranch could not

George, the smaller man, leads the way and makes the decisions for Lennie, a mentally handicapped giant. They stop at a stream for the evening, deciding to go to the ranch in the morning. Lennie, who loves to pet anything soft, has a dead mouse in his pocket. George takes the mouse away from Lennie and reminds him of the trouble Lennie got into in the last town they were in — he touched a girl's soft dress. George then reminds Lennie not to speak to anyone in the morning when they get to the ranch and cautions Lennie to return to this place by the river if anything bad happens at the ranch. When he has to take the dead mouse away from Lennie a second time, George chafes at the hardship of taking care of Lennie.
