...OJ Simpson Case Study Psychology 410 November 17, 2000 Gregory E. Haymon OJ Simpson Case Study Forensic DNA is a way to explain a crime, but it has to be gathered and stored properly to be counted pure. The OJ Simpson case, the defense claimed that the murder incident and the Simpson estate were not divided when evidence was collected. The defense stated that the bloodstains were found in the Bronco and on OJ's socks. DNA can be beneficial when determining who the killer was and who was at a scene, but the collection has to be done according to standards. The Simpson case was a displayed wrong and the way forensic DNA works when crimes are solved. The OJ Simpson case demonstrates the most challenging evidence created by the forensics scientists. This evidence may not be enough to convince a jury beyond a realistic doubt that an accused individual is guilty. It is well-defined that with highly trained agents who work on a high profile cases or any other cases, it must be accompanied by well-trained crime scene investigators to collect evidences. Therefore, progress of accreditation programs that train police officers and crime scene technicians in the appropriate approaches to handle the evidence in a crime scene investigation should be on-going. The two main points to consider when examining the case study of OJ Simpson is first to provide an overview of selected case. The second step is to explain the emotional, biological, behavioral components, and...

...interprets how the surrounding events played a big role in my grandfather’s life. At the age of 103, T.W. Cooper, my great grandfather witnessed plenty of extravagant events. Some of these events include: The Waco Horror, KKK, Emmett Till case, The Watergate scandal, O.J. Simpson trial, Trayvon Martin Trial. The Waco horror took a great toll on the African American community in 1916. Jesse Washington, a 17-year-old black farmhand railroaded to a conviction in the murder and rape of a white woman in Waco on May 15, 1916. He was snatched from court and mutilated and burned alive outside City Hall before some 15,000 spectators -- half of Waco's population at the time -- and a photographer alerted in advance to shoot picture postcards. Afterward the charred corpse was dragged...

...Study: O.J Simpson Jamie Berthelette Psy/410 May 14, 2012 Lara Ashbaugh Abstract This paper will mention Orenthal James Simpson also known as O.J Simpson. He was a very famous football player since college and went onto the pros. He was a dedicated athlete, good father, and also a husband not once, but twice. There will be highlights from the horrific event that took place June 12, 1994. It is believed that O.J Simpson suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder. Another issue that I feel O.J Simpson suffered from is Love Triangle Syndrome which explains why he acted, behaved at all times, and the way he was with Nicole Brown Simpson. O.J Simpson was born July 9, 1947 to Eunice whom she raised him and his three siblings alone after their father ran off on them. His father Jimmy Simpson, being dysfunctional and leaving them which in part can explain so much on how O.J would act “macho” around everyone. He was awkward growing up with having to wear braces on his legs so most of the time he got picked on. He had to wear the braces until age five due to a diagnosed case of rickets and children would call him “waterhead” or “headquarters”. When O.J went to junior high he joined a gang called the Persian Warriors at age 14 and got caught stealing from a liquor store in the neighborhood. His mother ended up having him attend a private Catholic school which in turn put him back on a path towards positive things and better occupied him. O.J Simpson went to City...

...The O.J. Simpson Trial: How The Media Effects High Profile Criminal Cases Noah Norwood Florida State University Abstract This paper goes over the effects the media had on the O.J. Simpson case and how the media interfered. The O.J. Simpson murder case is touted as the most televised criminal trial in history and from the second the murders were discovered there was a media frenzy. On the night of June 12, 1994 the bodies of Nicole Brown and her waiter Ronald Goldman were found outside of Nicole’s condo both stabbed to death. The suspect, former athlete, icon, and actor Orenthal James (O.J.) Simpson was the main suspect of the crime. On June 16th, 1994 the LAPD pressed murder charges against him and placed a warrant for his arrest on which he agreed to turn himself in on June 17th 1994 at 11 A.M.. He would not show up to turn himself in and eventually the infamous White Ford Bronco police chase would ensue. Eventually O.J. would be brought in and face trial in what would subsequently lead to him being found not guilty. Throughout this paper we will go over the historical setting and the phases of the incident from the crime committed to the end of the trial. Along with this the effect the high volume of media coverage and publicity will be covered. Also research on how race and gender affected the outcome of this trial will be displayed. To conclude the O.J. Simpson murder trial was highly effected by the media interference from day 1, which caused a racial stir and a certain...

...The Kardashian Sisters public image The Kardashian sisters are a pop icon of the 2000s. Their previous actions and self-proclaimed “momager” Kris Jenner are what made them famous today and launched their careers. The family became a household name quickly after the father Robert Kardashian defended OJ Simpson in the famous Nicole Brown murder case. However, the sisters did not become famous until many years later when” Kris Kardashian-Jenner co- produced with Ryan Seacrest the show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” The Kardashian sisters are not the best role models for today’s young adults from Kim’s release of her sex tape to Khloe’s marriage to Lamar Odom and Kourtney’s on again off again relationship with Scott Disick. One would ask, “What made the Kardashian sisters famous?” this...

...Should Athletes Be Considered Role Models By Antonio Dean Should athletes be role models? That is the question that is being asked here. The answer can go both ways. There are some people that view them as role models and some that do not. I personally think that it’s the parent or guardian place to be role models for today’s children. Kids this day in age have so much access to so many different things such as the internet and there is hardly anything that you can’t find on television now. There isn’t anything wrong with kids admiring athletes and wanting to be like them. But how often does that child actually see that athlete or famous person that they are admiring, it is very rare. There are a lot of times where those athletes or professionals did not have role models themselves and that is why you see them become famous they do not know how to handle them fame and glory that comes with it. As parents we should do things that help our children grow as a person and be responsible. To take a quote from Charles Barkley, he said (and this is not a direct quote) I am not a role model. I am not paid to be a role model. Parents should be role models. Just because I can dunk a basketball does not mean I should raise your kid. Read more: http://www.city-data.com/forum/sports/738186-should-parents-role-models-athletes.html#ixzz0gCGHSlUw Rather they like it or not athletes are role models especially if they have children of their own. ...What happens inside the mind of murderers has been a perplexing thought within the minds of many humans throughout history. From watching Law and Order or tuning into the famous OJ Simpson Trial, we as people are captivated by why some would commit this atrocious act against their fellow man. Just like in Truman Capote’s In Cold Blood and Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Tell Tale Heart,” where both try to peer into the minds of murderers using symbolism and themes of madness; yet, the narrator's perspective and overall tone differ. Throughout both stories the authors explore themes of madness, be it focused on a main character or the narrator themself. In his book, In Cold Blood, Truman Capote explores sanity through Perry Smith, the man who famously murdered the Clutter family in their home in Holcomb, Kansas; all because him and his accomplice wanted access to the Clutter family’s safe. Perry was a happy child until his father started brutally beating his mother, who then took to drinking and promiscuity. Eventually she dragged her kids to San Francisco, where Perry was getting into trouble constantly. He blamed it on having "no rule or discipline, or anyone to show me right from wrong." (Capote 275) This lead to Perry’s...

The aspiration to impartiality is just that — it's an aspiration because it denies the fact that we are by our experiences making different choices than others." "Our gender and national origins may and will make a difference in our judging. This is not to say that all African Americans, all Latinos or all women share the same views and life experiences. This too would be a silly position. But it is to say that in our society, factors such as race, gender and social class influence our lives and how we are treated. These experiences help shape how a person approaches legal issues and how a judge decides cases. Another high role model included in his campaign a very remarkable man’s quote which was, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their...

...Studies have shown parents want their firstborns to have high status jobs such as lawyers and doctors but they relax on the choices for other siblings. The coaching we get concerning job, affects our achievement and self-esteem. The position of first born is very much geared towards high achievers. 21 out the 23 first astronauts in space were first born children. In a study looking at the birth place order of CEO’s it was found that 43 percent of them were firstborn children, 33 percent were middle born and 23 percent were the youngest children in their family. On the other hand, the youngest sibling in the family may be the one to engage in more reckless behavior such has dangerous sports including sky diving, motor cycle racing, sky jumping, and even football. According to a survey taken in a high school, the younger siblings said they were more sentimental and were less judgmental than their older siblings. The same survey reinforced the studies on firstborns who were geared towards being high achievers as this survey indicated these students rated themselves as being perfectionists. However, studies show that younger children get better grades. This is because they are mentored by the older siblings; they have watched how their older siblings overcome challenges and learn from them. Strangely, the very first studies on birth order never included females. Nevertheless, Montrealers need to know that these studies, especially the earliest ones did not account for the...

...Places Of Consumption A discussion of places of consumption should begin where food has been consumed since the beginning of humankind, in the home. In the twenty-first century in most countries the home remains the primary location for eating. That is not to say that the nature of the food eaten in the home has remained constant or that the preparation of the food has not changed. Even the formality and regularity of dining in the home was altered in the twentieth century. During the nineteenth century and the early twentieth century in the United States, dining at home was usually regular (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and occurred at the kitchen table or in the dining room. Food was often seasonal. The heaviest meal (dinner) was at noon or, if the breadwinner worked outside the home, in the evening. If the lighter meal occurred at night, it was called supper. The fare did not include a great deal of variety. The improvement in the means of transporting food and people as well as the advancements in preservation markedly increased the places of consumption and the types of food consumed in much of the world. With modern transportation and refrigeration in mind, this overview examines places where people eat, starting with the contemporary home, moving to the world of work, touching upon the varying modes of travel and places where people play, and concluding with the increasingly vast array of dining-out possibilities. The Home The sit-down meal three times a day at set...

...Enabling strategies enact academic integrity policy. Without long-term, sustainable and practical support resources, a policy will not be enacted, no matter how well it is articulated. The cases in this resource cover a range of academic integrity issues in Australian universities with application for a wider audience. These case studies have been developed by the Academic Integrity Standards Project. “…I suspect that every senior manager needs to have some training in the issue of academic integrity principles. I learnt mine on the job, so I think that needs to be worked through so that the policy and the implementation and the people who have that power understand those principles …So I think the case study models really useful. How would you deal with someone who had this story; you know, what would you do, and then work out what you'd do pragmatically versus where the policy fits from there.” (Senior Manager, University B, Academic Integrity Standards Project) Although they may be based on real life stories, they have been adapted and anonymised for the purposes of this project resource; pseudonyms are used in every instance. The case studies are designed to be used as triggers for discussion in group seminars and primarily target teaching staff, although they could be used for discussion with students or other academic integrity stakeholders. Support for this project/activity has been provided by the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching...

...in a way that gives the research process unheard-of possibilities. The current level of technological development allows for the construction of objects that are smaller, more intelligent and embedded in the environment and even wearable. These objects, which record and learn our habits are connected to the Internet and they have computing capabilities. They can also be interconnected and generate large quantities of information to benefit the environment in which they are located as well as the travellers that possess them. This gives rise to a new world of interconnected personal machines. This new world involves a convergence among what is physical, what is social and what is digital. Within this context, research assumes the principal role to guide evolution, transferring knowledge to the industry. Relevant academic research is more necessary than ever before in order to explore how ICT in tourism can...
