...The background of the Old Town White Coffee and its performance record. Old Town at a glance. The group’s history traces back to the incorporation of White Café in 1999 when its co-founders, Mr Goh Ching Mun and Mr Tan Say Yap, formulated their own blend of 3-in-1 instant white coffee. The duo commercialized the coffee product that year with the “OLDTOWN” brand name and began exporting it to Singapore the following year. Subsequently, the company diversified into instant milk tea mixes, instant chocolate beverages and roasted coffee powder. In 2005, it decided to expand vertically into the food services industry by opening a chain of cafés encapsulating the traditional Ipoh coffee shop setting and ambience. This expansion into food services has met with success because Old town is today a regional food services company with cafés in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and China. Beverage manufacturer with extensive café network. In conjunction with the Schlossturm (Castle Tower) and the River Düssel, the basilica remains part of the Old Town's original core. This church's parish altar also houses a shrine containing relics of Saint Apollinaris, the city's patron saint. The Bergerkirche, which dates from the 17th century, the Johanneskirche...

The purpose of building a new facility is to increase its manufacturing operations capacity five-fold, and centralize its manufacturing operations to increase efficiency. It will cost RM37 million. The company will use cash from the initial public offering, bank borrowings and internally generated funds to finance the project. The factory is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2012. The company plans to expand its number of cafés in Malaysia. It also plans to expand its outlets in Singapore (2012: nine outlets) and Indonesia (2012: two outlets). The company has reached the tipping point in terms of expansion, and looked to the initial public offering to gather more funds for its future plans. The company achieved double-digit growth in terms of revenue between 2007 and 2012, but has been slowing down as the size of the company and its operations increase. Usage of its own coffee brand in the Old Town outlets from its commencement was a good strategic move by the company. It is expected to grow steadily for the next few years, by increasing the number of outlets locally and abroad, and increasing the coverage of the country to export its instant products. Cost Focus Comparative to traditional coffee shops, Old Town White Coffee...

...1. Market segment means breaking down a large market into subgroups or sections that are likely to respond to products in a different ways. 2. The advantages for Sony in identifying and targeting specific market segments are that they are able to identify specific groups from within a larger market. Through market segmentation, they are able to see how different subgroups of the market respond to their product. Sony will then be able to see which segments are least profitable and then focus on the segments that are contributing more profit towards their product. After identifying their market segments, Sony will be able to shift its resources to the most productive segments so that they can create something better for their consumers. For example, one of the most popular products that have been produced by Sony is the PlayStation, and even until today the PlayStation is still one of the hottest products in the game industry. ...Washington. I spent my first 29 years living in Boston, so I enjoy visiting my old South Boston neighborhood, riding the subway system I dreaded as a schoolkid, and taking in the museums and historical sites and entertainment I enjoyed so much when I lived there. We stop in lots of small towns on the way to and from the city. Many are similar to our own Gold Beach, Oregon, a quiet, friendly town of 1,500 nestled in a fairly large expanse of open space, in our case the ocean and mountains of the Northwest. I always gain insight into myself and my situation in life when I travel. Typically I feel fortunate to have made the transition from city to country life long ago because I feel at home and comfortable in the country. But the city is still exciting and impressive. Here are what I see as the major benefits and drawbacks between city and small town life: Population density: Even as you approach the city on its main freeway or expressway, cars begin crowding closer together and dart in and out of lanes in an effort to get one or two car lengths ahead of a competitor. In the country there is no such competition. Once on foot, the population of the city seems staggering to a small town person. It reminds you of an ant colony, or a cage with too many rats. Money: Most city dwellers would scoff at the $10 jobs that are coveted in the small town, and they would decline to drive the beat up old pickups that seem highly prized in the country. But poverty is greater...

...Union City Union City is located about twenty minutes south of Erie, Pennsylvania. It is a quaint town with few stores and entertainment opportunities. The town does not have many people or places to visit, but it makes up for it with its beautiful sceneries. Despite the archaic buildings of Main Street and the luscious woods surrounding the town, Union City is often found to be shoddy and unpleasant by outsiders. Located in northwestern Pennsylvania, Union City is a fairly small town with some unpleasant people and some unpleasant places. The town now has a population of 3,127 people (“Union City, PA: Demographic” 1), but began with two: William Miles and David Watts (“History” 1). In 1785, the two men were surveying the “10th Donation District” to begin a settlement, starting with a small land development company (“History” 1). They...

...I sit on the old courthouse steps in the town square of Denton in the great state of Texas. The square is filled with people from all walks of life. Nestled between two universities and surrounded by residential neighborhoods, this place is constantly alive with people coming and going. I find myself humming along to the sounds of music coming from a group of young college kids who have set up their instruments and are performing on the courthouse lawn for all to enjoy. A gentle breeze picks up and with it is carried a glorious scent of bbq wafting over from one of the local restaurants. This place plays host to many festivals throughout the year. From where I am seated I can see the strings of white LED lights strung throughout the trees on the courthouse lawn. In the evening these lights are turned on creating a lovely ambiance. This is the type of place where the waitress at the diner knows your name and order as soon as you walk in the door. This is that small town America that for so many years I looked for and finally have found. I sit on the steps of the old courthouse here in Denton, Texas. The courthouse square is packed with all sorts of people. Many have walked here from a few blocks away due to the limited parking options. Just a few feet from me, an amateur band of college kids have set up and are using the courthouse lawn as an open air practice studio. Walking about the square, darting in and out of the waves of people, I duck into a diner. The waitress...

...India is one of the countries in which urban centres and urbanization flourished as early as 3000 B.C. The urban centres of Mohenjodaro, Harappa and Lothal may be cited as the examples of pre-historic urbanization in India. During the ancient and medieval periods of Indian history, numerous towns and cities developed, mainly because of socio-economic, geo-political and cultural reasons. Most of them were walled cities like Delhi, Sirhind, Lahore etc. which were centres of regional powers and trade. The arrival of the East India Company led to the development of many cities and towns. The urbanization during this period is vastly different as the British developed towns according to their functions and were different from the earlier Indian cities. The major types of towns developed by the British can be classified into the following categories: 1. Cantonments at strategic places within India to contain disaffection by the rulers of states and principalities. Some of the major cantonments are Ambala, Ahmedabad, Agra, Jhansi, Meerut, Roorkce, Mhow etc. 2. Hill Stations in Himalayas and Western Ghats mostly as sanatoria where Europeans could brave out the harsh Indian summers. Shimla was developed as the summer capital of India. Other hill stations developed by the British are Mussoorie, Nainital, Kasauli, Darjeeling, Almora, Kodaicanal, Ooty etc. 3. Ports or Trading Centres to export Indian raw material and import English finished goods for redistribution in the Indian market...

...A little town was unusually noisy today. There came a fair. And since very morning everybody – children, adults and elderly people- gathered in the central square. Such a fuss! The fair was a very important occasion for people. They worked hard for the whole year and took a rest during those summer days. It was greatly celebrated. The square was decorated with flags, ribbons and flowers. Music was playing loudly. Children were laughing. And artists were performing and singing. All of those noises were combined in a melody of universal holiday. A little bird was singing with the melody. She liked fairs. She liked holidays. But in that town they were so infrequent! What a pity! -Mommy! – Asked the little bird her mother that was cleaning her feathers sitting under the roof beam, - Why people don’t like the fairs? Why they have fun so rarely? -Because, my little birdie, they should work hard to deserve this holiday. -I want more holidays, mommy! - Stubbornly twittered the little bird, - Where can be more holidays? -Well, I don’t know if it is true, but one day the Old Raven told us the story about the City. There are more people, so there should be more fairs, I guess…- the mother-bird murmured thoughtfully. -The City, - the little bird repeated it dreamily. It was the day when the little bird decided to go to the City. Next morning when the mother was asleep the little bird managed to leave their cozy nest and to start its long way to the City. The bird had been...
