It is used to communicate ideas to change people’s behaviors by means of several term including selected Filipino Short Film commercials that give values to the viewers. According to McLuhan (n. d.), television is a form of entertainment, and it has educational properties. It teaches all the time, doing even more educating than schools. In addition, according to Shairise (2011) Filipino values, these works call a development of a Filipino philosophy of values so that the ultimate causes and principle to be manifested. Today, the need for the solid Filipino philosophy of values is urgent in order to serve as a fundamental basis not only to speculation of the different sciences but also to the practice for Filipino philosophy of values exist. According to Patton (2006), television commercials have long been an effective means of advertising products. ...Wasp: A Buzzing Start to a life of Short Films Whenever I consider the term "short film", my mind never fails to delve deep into my childhood (which was practically owned by the Disney Corporation) when I used to watch and experience various animated shorts that had been fully produced, directed and crafted for the sole purpose of entertaining a child. But these works of pure imagination are quite unlike a new type of short film that I have recently discovered, and it was during my most recent travels through the land of film where I observed a new breed of short film that had been developed with a far more complex architecture. When I first experienced their unique design I have to admit that I felt as though I had been forced from my bubble...

...Film i Engelsk Bilag 1a FILM ANALYSIS – an introduction (Source: http://www.filmeducation.org) – bearbejdet af Mi og LK, Favrskov Gymnasium Reading a film is just like reading a book, except that instead of looking at a written page we are looking at the cinema screen. Reading a film works in exactly the same way as a written text, or a picture, except that the tools that are used to create meaning are different. We call these tools film language. The opening sequence From the moment we first start watching a film, we begin to get involved. The first few minutes of a film (the opening sequence) are very important to us as they give us lots of clues about the film: 1) what will the film be about (conflicts/themes); 2) who are the most important characters (hero, villain, love interest); 3); what is the setting of the film (time and place); 4) the genre; and finally, 5) what sort of film language characterizes the film? We look at all these elements and begin to put them into context. Based on their environment, how they look, what they say and what we see them do, we make assumptions about the characters, their roles in the film and their relationship to each other. We also recognize so-called genre markers (things we associate with one particular genre) which tell us if we are watching a Western or a Sc-Fi film and, thus, form specific expectations about what is going to happen during the rest of the film. At the same time, we listen to the sounds and the music...

...Question: What was the objective of BMW films? Was it successful? The BMW is a car manufacturer with quite small market share in the U.S. market (slightly below 2%). Brand is being perceived as a yuppie and status car, while consumption patterns in USA market changes from “conspicuous consumption” to more pragmatic style. In comparison with Lexus and Mercedes Benz, BMW is perceived as less comfortable, roomy and dependable. Still, in 2001 BMW is at its top in terms on sales and brand strength. The company decides to continue its innovative advertising style (first innovative advertising – Z3 in James Bond series “Golden Eye”) and makes 5 short films with A-class directors, producers and actors. Short film series main actors are Clive Owen and BMW cars. The films were given a very warm welcome from audience, and were hailed by the critics. Now the company should decide what to do next. The objective of BMW film was stated by vice president of marketing Jim McDowell as “pure branding” and showing people “what makes a BMW a BMW”. Some unstated parts of actual purpose of short films are: 1) Increase BMW market share 2) Show customers different BMWs, like for example “If you want to change your 3 series to a SUV, you do not need to change the brand, we also have comfortable and spacey BMW X5”. Show them that BMW doesn’t end with luxury and/or sports cars, but also have other types of vehicles. 3) Make existing customer more loyal. 4) Change brand image to more timely and modern...

...------------------------------------------------- Background and personal life[edit] Nick Vujicic was born to Duška and Boris Vujicic in 1982 in Melbourne, Australia.[2] Although he was an otherwise healthy baby, Nick was born without arms and legs; he had no legs, but two small feet, one of which had two toes. Vujicic has two siblings, Michelle and Aaron.[3] Initially, a Victorian state law prevented Vujicic from attending a mainstream school due to his physical disability in spite of a lack of mental impairment. However, Vujicic became one of the first physically disabled students integrated into a mainstream school once those laws changed.[4]But soon enough, his lack of limbs made him a target for the school bullies and he fell into a severe depression. Following this depression, at the age of eight, he contemplated suicide and even tried to drown himself in his bathtub at the age of ten. From then after the love for his parents prevented him from following through.[5] He also states in his music video "Something More" that God had a plan for his life and he could not bring himself to drown because of this.[6] Vujicic prayed that God would give him arms and legs and initially told God that, if his prayer remained unanswered, he would stop praising him indefinitely. However, a key turning point in his faith came around when his mother showed him a newspaper article about a man dealing with a severe disability. Vujicic realized he was not unique in his struggles and began...

...Organizational Issues ETH/316 June 10, 2013 Viewing the short film Lighthouse in “The Responsibility Project Website,” the organizational issues was exhibited. Ethical principles are something to be focused on by the organization’s issues. By watching this short film “Lighthouse” it was abundantly clear how important ethical principles are in any organization and how this can alter and influence them. “A grumpy lighthouse keeper tests and redefines his own limits of responsibility.” (June, 2008). The issues in the film are important in this case because it is clear how a normal shift things are not going right, and there would be nothing, which could make things go any worse. There are many times when an employee will rather stay in bed for the day. Incidents happen, and things are out of one’s control, the easy thing to do is throw in the towel; however this is not the thing to do. Mishaps occur, and when it does, one should assess what is occurring at work. In this situation the light can be fixed, and used the equipment utilized for this job. The lighthouse keeper looks as there was not a solution, and at the time he did not view what was available to fix this problem. In this case the best thing for the lighthouse keeper was not to panic. Darkness may appear in a job, but there is always options, in this case the light at the end of the tunnel. The film “Lighthouse” teaches when one thing fails, go at it another way, the people came together and helped the lighthouse...

...1 THR-1 Life Cycle Recently, I watched a short documentary called “Kadena”. This documentary was really short yet sweet. It focused on the life of a man who rode his bike to work every day. In each day, he would drive through treacherous roads for long hours just to provide for his beloved family. He would bike for countless hours and go through the most difficult roads yet he clearly states that he enjoys this. He emphasizes that he would rather do this every day than commute to work. He was easily lovable from the very beginning. It was his hard work, dedication, and passion that was so admirable from him that made him a joy to observe. The man himself wasn’t the only thing lovable but his idea as well was splendid. He showed that through biking every day to and from work, he would be able to save a lot of money and more importantly, it will be very good for his health. His passion turned into something beautiful yet fruitful. The short film was a very entertaining one for me. It had a good combination of everything you’d want from a short movie that achieved social relevance. It tried to break social norms in more aspects than one through the message it tried to convey and through the matter as to how it was tried to be executed. Immediately, you would notice how it tried to somehow enter within the reaches of the mind of the general public. It had a clear and precise purpose; a coup de grace for a well-throughout short made for the general...

...Exercise 1. Plot analysis a. Setting: the movie begins with the sight of a man sitting lonely with his camera near the river bank in a breezing Valentine afternoon. He quietly watched many couples walking along the side of the river, talking happily together, hand-in-hand. b. Rising action: then, he suddenly saw a girl walking alone near the river. Curious, he quickly raised his camera towards her and saw that she was trying to persuade the passer-by to take her a picture with her phone, but she was ignored and became a bit frustrated, then she resorted to “selfie”. After that, the girl moved into many beautiful places, took her own pictures by herself and faked a smile in every single shot. She didn’t know that the man was following her and secretly taking pictures of her. c. Climax: the camera suddenly let out clicking voice indicated that the current memory card was full so he might run the risk of being unable to take any more pictures of the girl. Then he sat down and took out from his wallet another card which had a line “don’t delete” written on it. That card turned out to contain a lot of pictures and videos which reminded him of her ex-girlfriend and the time they spent together. And this meant that he was in the quandary whether keeping his happy memories with his ex or deleting them and moving on. He was confused, hesitated and noticed that the girl was then standing under a spectacular tower with some words inscribed on it “out of the mountain of despair...

...“Ang Lumang Paintbrush” is a well-known short film by artist Joey Velasco. “Ang Lumang Paintbrush” talks about how he, with a very old paintbrush, maximized his talents for the Lord. The artist is in search for the perfect man to paint for his painting, a remake of the famous painting “The Return of the Prodigal Son”. In the short story, the man, Mang Crispin, whom Joey Velasco has chosen was a bit cold towards him and Joey indeed had a very hard time putting up with Mang Crispin. One day, the Mang Crispin suddenly got sick, so Joey had to rush him to the hospital wherein several revelations surfaced. The doctor who took care of the Mang Crispin turned out to be his own grandson. To cut things short, it was a short mini reunion for both Mang Crispin and his grandson. What struck me the most about it is the fact that yes, the things God have provided for us may be old and useless already, but it is honestly up to us whether or not we maximize them. Here, the old paintbrush may be old and may seem useless already, but it yielded into something amazing, the painting. That old paintbrush made me realize that we all have a purpose in this world. God called us all for a purpose. We should never think that we do not have a purpose in this world, because indeed, we all have. I believe that God causes all things to happen for a reason. We may not know yet now what or why, but in His due time indeed, we are bound to know more about what He has in store for all of us. My life is a tough...

...1. Build Trust Trust is the basic tenant for all relationships, so building an environment of trust is one of the most important things you can do to create a positive work environment. It's a philosophy that must be demonstrated in everything you and your staff does. Trust is about doing what you say you are going to do and being who you say you are. It's about showing your staff in everything you do that you are reliable, responsible and accountable, and that they can rely on you for consistency. Also letting them know you expect the same from them. When your words and behavior are congruent you foster trust. It will take some time for your staff members to learn that you are a person of your word. If they see that you are consistent you will build trust, but if they see your words don't match your behaviors their trust in you will be destroyed. The unfortunate thing about trust is that it takes a long time to build, but it's very fragile and will break easily. Once broken, it takes an even longer time to regain, and it may never be fully rebuilt. Therefore, it is of primary importance that you are aware of all your words and behaviors and insure that they are worthy of your employees' trust. Even when dealing with uncomfortable situations, if you are honest and up front it will make things easier for everyone. What you say and what you do represent who you are. Even if they don't like what you are saying, if you say it honestly, compassionately and tactfully they will...

...inc.com/guides/preparing-for-initial-public-offering.html) The things LJB should continue to practice are: The use of pre-numbered checks and pre-numbered invoices makes it easier to spot a missing document. (Documentation procedures) Locking up unused checks will make it more difficult for someone to gain assess and forge a check.(Physical Controls) Having the President and and another manager interview and approve new hires is a good idea because it will increase the chances for one of them to catch any “red flags” with potential employees (HR Controls). The monthly bank reconciliation and long term employees are both practices that should be continued.(Independent Internal Verification) The things LJB should no longer practice: Having one accountant who plays the role of both Treasurer and Controller is an area of great risk. The Controller and Treasurer should hold each other accountable for all transactions. A person should be hired to as the treasurer and/or controller. Having one person responsible for both roles makes easier to commit fraud. (Segregation of duties) Every employee should NOT have access to the petty cash. The cash should be locked and those with a key should ensure proper documentation for cash distributed to be sure it is authorized. (Access to assets) All new employees should be subject to extensive back ground checks. All employees should be given a password to access the company’s computers. (Physical Controls and Independent Internal...
