...that taking notes on my phone would be a little bit cliche. I tried not to look creepy and browsed clothing stores actually looking for something to wear this weekend. I observed many things that caught my attention. My first observation of the mall was a very busy hustle and bustle. No one really seemed to stop and take in their surroundings, instead they seemed to be focused on getting their shopping done or meeting up with friends. I also noticed that everyone was on their cell phone even if they were walking with someone. It seemed amazing that no one crashed into anything with their heads looking down towards their phone. The technology of these devices has made us almost oblivious to the world around us. For this reason, I have chosen to discuss cellular phones as my observational technology. Cell phones have replaced many of the items that we used to use in the past. Alarm clocks are a thing of the past due to the app on almost every cell phone now. Also, calendars, phone books, gps/maps are history. We no longer look for the new cool camera or ipod because music and cameras are built right into cell phones. Cameras are now made with technology that sends pictures right to your phone so you can edit and share them on social networks. This advancement is kind of sad. Sad because people almost have to be bribed into using cameras again. While I was at the mall I also noticed something quite interesting. People were using their cell phones to pay for their purchases...

...A day in Seguela The blue helmet peacekeeper was not in his usual fatigue and bullet proof jacket today. He was taking his time off, enjoying the sunshine and long drive to Seguela a small town in the north of Cote d’Ivoire under control of the rebels. He started his journey late in the morning from Daloa. It’s a government held town almost in the centre of the war ravaged country. Busy as it could be. He hated rushing people, crowds and smog. As he slipped in to the leather slipper and came out of his room very early in the morning in his blue faded denim and sky blue half shirt, inhaled deeply the fresh and unpolluted air from last night’s heavy rain. The prospect of serene and tranquil Seguela curved a thin smile on his lips. By the hour the heat, the smog and the crowd will make it worse to stay in the bustling town. He felt the urge to flee as far as he could. Not until late in the morning he did so. Their convoy of three vehicles stopped at the market place in Vabua, an hour drive from Daloa to the north. Shahed was following his friend from the Engineers who was on the way to inspect the newly established camp location in Seguela. He has all the time till the evening to devour the countryside, breathe the fresh air and wonder at lush green. He even did not mind to opportunity shopping in this market place. Vabua market place is like a beehive made of thousand shanties, arrayed in ranks and files like the soldiers stand in the parade. Nearly dark narrow...

...2005 Tesco made a pre-tax profit of £1.962 billon on turnover of £33.974 billion. Some would argue that if we were to include Tesco's share of the convenience store market (bizarrely considered a separate sector by UK competition authorities) in this figure, Tesco could be said to control 34% of the grocery market. Considering how concentrated and cut-throat the 'supermarket' market is, this is quite an achievement. Tesco is equally impressive when considering its share of the total retail market. In its interim statement of results (August 2003), Tesco claimed 'our share of the total retail market is just 12.3% and there is a lot left to go for.' Already, 'just 12.3%' means that almost one pound in every eight spent in the UK is spent in Tesco. Tesco profits have increased every year but one since 1987. In April 2004, Tesco announced profits of £1.6bn for the financial year ending on 28 February; £4.4m profit a day, 17.6% higher than the previous year. As a comparison, in 2003 Tesco made as much profit as M&S, Sainsbury, Next and WH Smith combined. Tesco is Europe's second largest supermarket after the French firm Carrefour, and according to Mintel market research in 2004, Tesco is closing the...

I stare in awe as we ascended up the road into the mountains, being fairly in closed in an area except PT took a toll on me, I am not one for boundaries. The path that we are riding is rather rocky, I remember climbing this on the weekends before basic, just to relax. It was peaceful, the air was calm as water that had been settling for years. We arrive, stepping out of the taxi, I stretch my back, paying the fee, then continuing on to the top of the mountain.
