...Research paper Business Intelligence in the Market By Bryan Bock Dr. Traci O'Neill Business Marketing Montana Tech of The University of Montana December, 13 2012 Abstract Businesses today are working more towards predicting the future, how employees will connect with customers, any way or trend the business can find to improve sales and profit. Business Intelligence is used in the market all around the world in many different areas. Businesses are benefitted from the different types of BI methods all the time. Two of the BI methods that are beneficial are called the Market Basket Analysis (MBA) and the Decision Tree Analysis. These two BI methods are used throughout businesses in areas such as marketing, financing, Real estate, and accounting. Both of these methods help business similarly, but in their own different ways. They are two different types of methods that both help businesses make the best decisions to benefit their company. There are many methods or theories that people come up with to help with a business but these are the few that will be examined in this paper. The goal of the modeling technique market basket analysis is to find different relationships of activities that have been recorded with data through the performance of people. This method can be used on any situation where information can be recorded and identified (Pillai, 2011). The way to improve methods for...

M. Sirajul Haque • M. Mozaffar Hossain • Sohag Miah Received: 2011-07-20; Accepted: 2012-07-20 © Northeast Forestry University and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2012 Abstract: We report the effects of shifting cultivation on water quality in 16 creeks investigated once in 2007 and twice in 2008 in 16 apparently similar small neighboring watersheds, each of 3 to 5 ha, at four locations around Barkal sub-district under Rangamati District of Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh. Concentrations of SO42- and K+, and pH in creek water were lower, and NO3-N and Na+ concentrations were higher in shifting-cultivation land compared to land with either plantation or natural forest or a combination of these cover types. Shifting cultivation effects on some water quality parameters were not significant due to change in land cover of the watershed between two sampling periods either through introduction of planted tree species or naturally regenerated vegetation. Conductivity and concentrations of HCO3-, PO43-, Ca2+ and Mg2+ in creek water showed no definite trend between shifting cultivation and the other land cover types. At one area near the Forest Range Office of Barkal, creek water pH was 5.8 under land cover with a combination...

We may wish to search, insert or delete records in a database based on a key value. This section examines the performance of these operations on arrays and linked lists. In this research paper we studied about the sorting and types of sorting. This is followed by techniques for implementing dictionaries, structures that allow efficient search, insert, and delete operations. We have also illustrated algorithms that sort data and implement dictionaries for very large files Keywords-insertion sort, quick sort, sort ,binary search tree, skip list. 1. Introduction Arrays and linked lists are two basic data structures used to store information. We may wish to search, insert or delete records in a database based on a key value. This section examines the performance of these operations on arrays and linked lists. 1.1 Arrays Figure 1-1 shows an array, seven elements long, containing numeric values. To search the array sequentially, we may use the algorithm in Figure 1-2. The maximum number of comparisons is 7, and occurs when the key we are searching for is in A[6]. Figure 1-1: An Array ...

...pressure exists in a variety of teen television shows, including One Tree Hill. This example also demonstrates how other teens respond to peer pressure and how it is often connected with bullying. Finally, I will discuss how peer pressure can affect one’s ability to achieve both academically and socially in the school environment. According to the lecture notes (Glozman, lecture notes, FRHD*2280, January 9, 2014) adolescence is defined as a period of the life course between the time puberty begins and the time adult status is approached. During this stage, young people are in the process of preparing to take on the roles and responsibilities associated with adulthood in their culture. During adolescence, we have noticed that peers play a large role in a young person’s life and typically replace family as the center of a teen’s social and leisure activities. Often time’s adolescents have various peer relationships and interact with a wide range of peer groups. As adolescents begin to pull away from their parents in search for their own identity, their friends usually become a more important aspect in their life. This is often because teens feel like their close friends understand them better than their parents; they learn more from their friends and feel like they can be more themselves around their friends. There is no doubt, as people form closer relationships with one another they are influenced and affected by one another’s choices. To me, peer pressure seems...

...this definition does not include “logging”. More inclusive was Myers’s 1980 definition, where deforestation refers, “generally to the complete destruction of forest cover through clearing for agriculture … [so] … that not a tree remains, and the land is given over to non-forest purposes … [and where] very heavy and unduly negligent logging … [result in a] … decline of biomass and depletion of ecosystem services … . So severe that the residual forest can no longer qualify as forest in any practical sense of the world.” Alan Graigner (1980, AS quoted in Saxena and Nautiyal, 1997) asserts that selective logging does not “lead to forest clearance and does not constitute deforestation”, whereas Norman Myers (1980, 1993) thinks that logging is crucial because, although it may only affect a small proportion of trees per hectare, it damages wide areas and is the precursor of penetration by the forest farmers. For the purpose of this study, the FAO’s latest definitions (1993) will be used. The FAO defines forests as “ecosystems with a minimum of 10% crown cover of trees and/or bamboo, generally associated with wild flora, fauna, and natural soil conditions, and not subject to agricultural practices” and deforestation as a “change of land use with a depletion of tree crown cover to less than 10% crown cover”. “A livelihood comprises the assets (natural, physical, human, financial and social capital), activities, and the access to...

...the required industry relevant ERP competencies. The majority of these education and training programmes utilise large ERP systems for instructional purposes, however users of these systems encounter usability issues whilst learning to use the systems. The use of medium-sized ERP systems has been proposed for educational purposes as they are less complex and easier to learn than large ERP systems. Empirical studies on the usability of ERP systems, particularly for medium-sized ERP systems are limited. This paper reports on empirical research on the usability evaluation of a medium-sized ERP system. The study identified three categories of criteria and 10 criteria which can be used for usability evaluations of medium-sized ERP systems. The criteria were used in a case study to evaluate the usability of a medium-sized ERP system and to obtain qualitative feedback on the usability of the system. The most frequently reported positive usability features of the ERP system were the tree-structure of the menus and the grouping of logically related items. Negative features which were reported included the clutter of the user interface and difficulties with finding information and controls. These results can provide valuable insight into the ERP learning process for university...

...University, Raleigh, North Carolina 27695–8206 Email: ⇤ pyang3@ncsu.edu, † robertsd@csc.ncsu.edu Abstract—When doing post-competition analysis in team games, it can be hard to figure out if a team members’ character attribute development has been successful directly from game logs. Additionally, it can also be hard to figure out how the performance of one team member affects the performance of another. In this paper, we present a data-driven method for automatically discovering patterns in successful team members’ character attribute development in team games. We first represent team members’ character attribute development using time series of informative attributes. We then find the thresholds to separate fast and slow attribute growth rates using clustering and linear regression. We create a set of categorical attribute growth rates by comparing against the thresholds. If the growth rate is greater than the threshold it is categorized as fast growth rate; if the growth rate is less than the threshold it is categorized as slow growth rate. After obtaining the set of categorical attribute growth rates, we build a decision tree on the set. Finally, we characterize the patterns of team success in terms of rules which describe team members’ character attribute growth rates. We present an evaluation of our methodology on three real games: DotA,1 Warcraft III,2 and Starcraft II.3 A standard machine-learning-style evaluation of the experimental results shows the discovered...

...The Great Black Swamp Research Paper There are varies types of swamps and they are very beneficial. A swamp is a wetland that is mostly contained with forest. A swamp is a part of land that is saturated by water, and is taken up primarily with trees. They are transition areas between areas that are completely water and areas that are completely land. They tend to have poor drainage usually but enough water to keep the amount of minerals in the water to have decayed plants and other organisms. In Ohio you will mostly find Swamps in the northern part of ohio near great lakes and rivers. The Great Black Swamp There are many swamps located in Ohio, but when you look up the most significant swamp in Ohio the Great Black Swamp appears. You must wonder why out of all swamps this is the one that shows. However, it is also known as the often-forgotten Great Black Swamp. Well the Great Black Swamp is in the northwest part of Ohio that leading into the farthest it will go into the northeast part of Indiana. The Swamps was made by glaciers when they left leaving a huge area of land that we now have today. The area contains lots...
