...University of Phoenix Material Traffic Modeling Figure 1 shows the intersections of five one-way streets and the number of cars that enter each intersection from both directions. For example, I1 shows that 400 cars per hour enter from the top and that 450 cars per hour enter from the left. See the Applications section in Section 6.2 of College Algebra as a reference. For this assignment, use Figure 1 to answer the questions following the figure and to prepare a Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation. [pic] Figure 1. The intersections of five one-way streets The letters a, b, c, d, e, f, and g represent the number of cars moving between the intersections. To keep the traffic moving smoothly, the number of cars entering the intersection per hour must equal the number of cars leaving per hour. 1. Describe the situation. • In this traffic model the pictures illustrates that as cars go out in one direction there is a number of cars coming that are equivalent to the total number of cars going out. The traffic flows through B, C and d will remain a constant, and traffic that flows through the other intersection will change. 2. Create a system of linear equations using a, b, c, d, e, f, and g that models continually flowing traffic. 3. Solve the system of equations. Variables f and g should turn out to be independent. 4. Answer the following questions: a. List acceptable traffic flows for two different values of the independent...

...One Way ANOVA using SPSS Introduction The one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) is used to determine whether there are any significant differences between the means of two or more independent (unrelated) groups (although you tend to only see it used when there are a minimum of three, rather than two groups). For example, you could use a one-way ANOVA to understand whether exam performance differed based on test anxiety levels amongst students, dividing students into three independent groups (e.g., low, medium and high-stressed students). It is important to realise that the one-way ANOVA is an omnibus test statistic and cannot tell you which specific groups were significantly different from each other; it only tells you that at least two groups were different. Since you may have three, four, five or more groups in your study design, determining which of these groups differ from each other is important. You can do this using a post-hoc test (N.B., we discuss post-hoc tests later in this guide) Example A manager wants to raise the productivity at his company by increasing the speed at which his employees can use a particular spreadsheet program. As he does not have the skills in-house, he employs an external agency which provides training in this spreadsheet program. They offer 3 courses: a beginner, intermediate and advanced course. He is unsure which course is needed for the type of work they do at his company, so he sends 10 employees on the beginner course, 10 on the intermediate...

...One Way Love: Looking For Romance Or Looking For Visas? Project Summary Problem Statement It is what romance novels are made of: being whisked away by an exotic stranger from another country, keeping you safe and secure. The love of your life intrigues all of your senses, being enchanted in a mystifying land. Yet, not many people are seeking love but are seeking more tangible gains: money, financial security, and visas. It is harsh, but it is reality. Foreigners stalk and prey social networks, chat rooms, and romance sites for their loves, hoping it would lead them to money and permanent resident status in a more prosperous country. Methods and Analysis From September to November, I will collect articles and other various research materials and use the knowledge gained from these articles to interview persons and organizations in connection to scam marriages and visa-marriage arrangements. Intellectual Merit Through the in-depth study of different stories of scam marriages, we will interview persons of interests as well as review articles. The research takes an integrative approach to anthropological research. Research Questions & Objectives 1) to document the incidence of multiple multicultural marriages for residency purposes among research participants. This involves collecting life histories that focus on the ethnic background of informants and their experience with 2) collecting data on characteristics of the communities, forums, and social networks...

...ONE WAY ANOVA One-way analysis of variance (abbreviated one-way ANOVA) is a technique used to compare means of two or more samples (using the F distribution). This technique can be used only for numerical data. The ANOVA tests the null hypothesis that samples in two or more groups are drawn from populations with the same mean values. To do this, two estimates are made of the population variance. These estimates rely on various assumptions. The ANOVA produces an F-statistic, the ratio of the variance calculated among the means to the variance within the samples. If the group means are drawn from populations with the same mean values, the variance between the group means should be lower than the variance of the samples, following the central limit theorem. A higher ratio therefore implies that the samples were drawn from populations with different mean values. Descriptives | | N | Mean | Std. Deviation | Std. ...Two days before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to speak to a joint session of Congress, Secretary of State John Kerry said the prime minister is welcome to speak in the U.S. but worries it injects far too much politics into the relationship. “The prime minister of Israel is welcome to speak in the United States, obviously,” Kerry said today in an exclusive interview on ABC’s "This Week." “I talk to the prime minister regularly, including yesterday." But, Kerry added, "we don't want to see this turned into some great political football.” Israel's Netanyahu Heads to Washington for Congress Speech Obama, Netanyahu on Collision Course 6 Years in the Making Iran Official Criticizes Israeli Leader's 'Scaremongering' Kerry echoed frustrations expressed by the White House that House Speaker John Boehner’s invitation to Netanyahu was inappropriate. “It was odd, if not unique, that we learned of it from the speaker of the House and that an administration was not included in this process," he said. "But the administration is not seeking to politicize this.” But Kerry’s remarks were far more measured than those of National Security Advisor Susan Rice, who said last week that the speech would be “destructive to the fabric of the relationship.” The White House has expressed anger with both the Republican-led House of Representatives and with Netanyahu’s office, not only for excluding them from the invitation process...

Data Collection approach and sampling 4. Data analysis and statistical tests 5. Key Findings 6. Conclusions and limitations 7. Appendix 1. Background and Objectives Research Topic: Implementing McDelivery services in McDonald's nearest Temple University Background: By conducting a situational analysis, McDonald’s located and identified a new market opportunity. The idea is to offer a new service of delivery, called McDelivery, to the students of 3 Temple University in Philadelphia to cater with their frantic and fast-paced lifestyles. The McDonald’s McDelivery service has been implemented in upwards of 25 cities across the world, including New York City. With the history of success that the McDelivery service has had, the owners decided to enter the Philadelphia market by focusing on students. Since this is a new project and the company has never proposed a similar service in Philadelphia, they cannot only base their decision on past experience, managerial judgment or internal record systems. Therefore, this opportunity situation requires more information before an appropriate plan and action can be developed. Thus, initiating a research process and using its practices and techniques to make the decision is the best option. The results...

...Addiction is a One-Way Street In Susan Minot’s “Lust”, an unnamed, faceless girl, the Narrator, becomes a victim to her own feelings. Falling further into conflict with herself, she becomes both the protagonist and antagonist of the story. Throughout the story, she develops symptoms for Post-Coital Dysphoria, a feeling of melancholy or sadness after sexual intercourse, making the title of “Lust” to be quite ironic. Originally overwhelmed by strong sexual impulses and a deviant nature, the narrator changes dramatically throughout the story; her motivation and character undergoes vicissitude, while her emotional state rapidly declines and her personal image diminishes to null. The Narrator, although dynamic and complex, does not allow ample introspection. Her actions themselves do not offer up much information, however, they do reveal her relationships with others. It is not her itemized list of encounters, but rather the relationships themselves that inform the audience about the character and marks her change. She seems rather detached emotionally to everyone, including her parents, the men, and herself. To start, out of the whole story, the Narrator’s parents were mentioned once, and were not exactly addressed personally. “My parents had no idea. Parents never really know what’s going on, especially when you’re away at school most of the time.” (275) Her relationships with her partners were also pretty impersonal, getting worse as the story continued. The only connection that...

...One way to get off I suddenly awoke from the deep sleep that drugged my mind. Darkness engulfed me. I found myself in a compacted room that was filled with a metallic smell. I tried to move my hands from behind my back but there was a great force that was restraining my movement. A thundering noise echoed through the shadows. It frightened me to my very soul. I was trapped in between the dull grey walls. The hard metal cuffs were biting into the flesh of my wrists. A moan came from the cubicle next to me. I could feel a frisson of fear surging inside of me, gnawing away at my soul. Terrified. I asked in a trembling voice; “Who are you?” A startling voice replied back; “I am Irene. I do not know how I came here” Soon enough my hands were free, and the doors to the cubicle drastically opened. Light shone on Irene’s face, her eyes glistening and her brown hair shining. She wore a shaggy, black button down top and dirty work boots. She seemed frightened from the darkness, but her skin was so porcelain, both pale and perfect. I couldn’t get over the fact that her face looked like a perfect china doll you’d purchase at an antique store. Her lips were a glowing red, and her jaw was so pointed, falling perfectly with her diamond shaped face. Her forehead was rather wide, her eyes almond, her noise pointed and her mouth, a cupid’s bow. Her teeth were perfect. And she had very high cheekbones. Her face would get the attention of anybody, but her clothes were such shabby things. But...

...Explain the ways feelings are presented in One Art. In “One Art”, Bishop uses a wide range of techniques in order to present the feelings, such as Enjambment, repetition, juxtapositions, Use of imperatives, use of humour, changes of tone, etc.. The poem refers to “The art of loosing”, and encourages the reader to follow her example and practice loosing things, from tangible objects to abstract aspects such as time or continents. Firstly, the poem presents the feelings in a very casual, relaxed tone. It seems as an introduction stating simple, apparently obvious facts. “So many things seem filled with the intent t be lost that their loss is no disaster”. The second stanza continues with this atmosphere, using the imperative to recommend to the reader to “Accept the fluster” of loosing day-to-day objects and time. She only separates this two concepts with a coma, this suggests to the reader that there is a more profound layer to everything she is talking about. There is repentance towards the loss of time even if she tries to hide it and notice the difference between a recoverable simple object and the loss of time, which is completely unrecoverable. The repetition of the phrase “The art of loosing isn’t hard to master” as if it was a mantra seems as if the writer is trying to convince herself of this, she is trying to keep control, even if the tone is still quite relaxed. The juxtaposition in the first phrase and the last one in the first stanza also has a layer of meaning...

...The effect of cyber-crime and one way to fight back Travis Major Lynn University Jeanette Francis 08 June 2013 The cost of cybercrime to businesses For three years now cybercrime has continued to grow. During this time cyber-attacks have more than doubled, while hitting the financial side with an estimated 40 percent increase. The cost of cybercrime study in 2012, conducted by Ponemon Institute, found that cybercrime costs to a random sample of organizations averaged 8.9 million dollars. This spike is estimated to have increased the cost of cybercrime by 6 percent from 2011 and 38 percent from 2010. Also during this study it was discovered that there had been a huge increase of cyber-attacks, approximately 48 percent, with around 102 of them being successful per week. The number of successful attacks per week in 2010 was only around 50. More than 78 percent of the annual cybercrime can be labeled as denial of service, malicious code, malevolent insiders, and stolen or hijacked devices. Businesses have no choice but to spend an increasing amount of money, time, and energy in order to protect themselves against these cyber-attacks that seem to be reaching unsustainable levels. Even though some companies are finding ways to lower the cost of security measures, the cost of time and energy spent cannot be eased. No matter what the solution is, it will always take time to incorporate any security and energy to maintain those securities. Additional key findings include: ...
