Discuss the universal facilitators and impediments of leadership success. In-class tutorial activity 2: Ongoing Semester Case Study Businessville Hotel. The manager of Beijing Businessville Hotel is unhappy with the number of complaints being received from customers regarding the housekeeping standards. Most of the staff in this section came from Mongolia. The manager met with the staff two months ago and told them they would not receive any leave, pay rises or even days off if they did not improve the standard. He really read the riot act to them and thought the staff understood that Beijing Businessville Hotel had a good reputation that he was determined to maintain. However, things have not improved very much at all. In fact, in some ways they are worse because 20% of the housekeeping staff have left the hotel. Research and identify the various leadership styles the manager could use in this situation and how each one might affect the staff. What method would you suggest the manager use to uncover the cause of the complaints? What motivation strategy would you employ to get the housekeeping staff interested and improving the standard?
