Online Dating
In the world we live in today some people rely on the internet in order to find love. But online dating isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. In fact, people should stay away from it. The internet has become so essential in our lives that some even use it to find their soul mate. Update fake profile, people commit suicide, and they pay to go on online dating websites.
Dating online is not safe. Sure there are some dating sites that are legitimate and a little less dangerous, but some people rely on Facebook, MySpace, and instant messaging for dating which is just plain wrong. Not only is it unpersonal, but you can never tell who you're really seeing. The picture you're looking at could be years old or be a different all together. And if you finally decide to meet your online partner, it's very likely that you'll be disappointed in their real appearance or, in a worst case scenario, find that you're dating a pedophile. However, there are several surveys that I find on the web about online dating; there are 11% of internet users (representing 9 % of an adults) they say that they have personally used an online dating sites such as match.com, eHarmony.com, and meetme.
Moreover, it’s great that people use online webs to find love but its best not to use online dating. There are some teenagers who are committing suicide just because they been in a relationship with a person that they don’t know and never seen each in their life. For example, I this happened to me before just about a few weeks when I went to Utah to visit some family. At this point the girl that I was with we had argue about me not going to be fully in love until I see her, and then sudden I seen someone that I really full in love with. Ever since I break up with that girl, she has been telling me that she’s going to commit suicide just because of me. I felt terrible for doing that to her, but things happen in life so I thought of it and move on to the next chapter in my life.
Consequently, online dating is good for short term but some people go on to find love which may not be easy. But the bad thing about it that some people pay for online dating just to fine someone to love and even to be friend with. The websites should be free and let people find what they want but at the same case they should be care with fake profiles. Fake profiles are the most important thing on top of everything else on online dating sites. In my personal response, I would not pay for a website to fine friends or soul mate because that’s waste of money and my life. I rather use Facebook or other websites that I am very similar with because I know so many people who use it and I don’t have to worry about putting my personal information to let other strangers look at it.
Overall, online dating is not safe for young and old fork to be finding love or friendship. I strongly suggested people should think carefully before doing some crazy things because you will never know who’s around you or by. Online dating business are making billions of dollars every year trying to get people attention to pay for some stupid website that is not worth paying for.

...investigation on the specific causes which weaken online dating websites’ efficiency Weiyi Zhang University Bridge Writing Introduction Since online dating started 20 years ago, it has developed into a mature industry. In the U.S, over forty million citizens have memberships to online dating websites; however, less than half of online dating users have turned virtual dates into real ones. Even more surprisingly, after the last decade’s rapid growth, the proportion still is not as high as people imagine. In 2005, two-thirds of online dating website members never had a face-to-face date with their virtual romantic interests. Moreover, some experimenters from Stanford University and Michigan State University conducted research about online dating with a sample including 5,000 couples, which were separated into 2,500 online couples and 2,500 offline couples. The observation showed that couples who met each other online have a higher possibility to break up than those who met each other offline, which is 47 percent versus 29 percent. According to the mentioned data, online dating might be less efficient than offline dating. However, just as the old saying goes, “What is rational is actual and what is actual is rational.” Online dating does accord with the trend of the times. Therefore, this article will try to discuss some potential specific causes which weaken online dating websites’ efficiency. As a result, some readers or online dating websites users might obtain a better knowledge...

Countless numbers of the population are resorting to the internet as an accessory to find a mate in the modern days. However, even though online dating has effective advantages on the users, there are also various disadvantages that comes along the way. One of the most considerable advantage of online dating is the idea of concentrating on profiles with similar interests in the comfort of ones home without having to commute to meet the certain other individual. "Meaningful dating can be done at a distance, even in other countries" (Croft ). The thought of less driving generates a effective influence about finding a mate online. Furthermore various online dating sites authorize others to view and learn before striking up a conversation with a user. Advantages of Online Dating

...Advantages of Online Dating I was very fortunate in finding a partner to spend my life with. I married my childhood friend and high school sweetheart. While my friends were spending most of their free time in bars searching for the right person, I was building on an already established relationship. While this was not the path laid out for me, I have known people who have had success using online dating sites. These people’s experiences have shown me that there are some tremendous advantages to online dating. Online dating exposes individuals to a wider variety of potential partners in an environment with less pressure than traditional dating. Online dating exposes people to an almost unlimited pool of potential partners. Traditional dating not only limits a person geographically, it also limits them to their own social circles. When using dating sites, these limitations are lifted and individuals are exposed to a larger group of people. A very good friend of mine found this fact to be very useful. After exhausting a variety of things like church functions and singles groups, she found herself very discouraged. Once she widened her range of dating candidates through online dating, she was able to find love with someone from another area. By increasing the range of candidates, she increased her chances for a successful relationship. The reason online dating is becoming so popular is because many people can benefit from these increased candidate pools...

...communicate. Let’s look at what we now call online dating. A person can now find a potential soul mate with the click of a mouse, but can one completely forget traditional dating, something that has been around for centuries. What happened to those days of courting and going out to meet your potential suitor? We now live in a world where computer generated questionnaires will do the leg work for you. Though online dating and traditional dating ultimately have the same goal of finding “the one,” they are different in many ways. It now seems that more people are flocking to online dating, but is it really better or worse than the age old method? Entering the dating scene can be a challenging and overwhelming process. When you add on technology, you enter another realm of dating. Online dating seems to be a fast growing trend and has become a popular alternative to dating. With the internet now having daily usage, more people are willing to look to it for help. “There are billions of people online which could make the possibility of connecting with someone easier than it has been in the past. With the internet you are given a wider range of people to meet that are also looking for relationships.” (Finkel, Paul, Benjamin, Harry, & Sprecher, 2012, para. 12). Singles are now willing to attempt anything to find their mates. The question now becomes how far are people really willing to go to find that someone. Think about traditional dating and how it has evolved. Centuries ago there...

Problem with Online Dating

...it is no surprise that companies want to take advantage of all the information than can gather. Everyone can agree that big name companies, such as Google, Facebook and OkCupid, get information through the internet, but the controversy lies in the methods they use to obtain the information. OkCupid is an online dating site that has well over four million people on its site every month. During an interview, OkCupid’s co-founder Christian Rudder, was questioned about the ways some of the experiments that the company recently did on some of its customers. The experiments were based mostly on deception. For example, they told people who is and who is not a good match for them, and how much a picture can influence a person’s first impression of them. In the interview, it was referred to as “the power of suggestion”(765), and this is where most of the people had problems with OkCupid. Being unwillingly manipulated and being a part of some sort of experiment without their consent is defiantly something that scares most people today, but I believe that in some cases, it helps websites do the jobs that they are supposed to do better. I would feel a lot better about using an online dating site if I knew that their method of finding your match was backed by some proof. Regardless of what Web site you are looking at, just know that every click you make is being recorded, and that you are always being watched. Online Dating Industry

...I. Dating Industry history The dating industry formed in the 1600s when the first services to help singles found spouses arose. At the time, being unmarried past the age of 21 was shameful causing some to turn towards matrimonial agencies to help them find a mate. The services utilized print ads typically on behalf of men who paid the agency to recruit them a wife. With the invention of the modern newspaper close to 1700 the print ad medium for finding a spouse began to gain popularity. Companies profited from posting a column in exchange for a fee. Continuing into the 1900s, print advertisements continued to be the dominant medium for the dating industry, but starting around the middle of the 20th century came the concept of computer assisted matchmaking. In the mid-1960s, Lewis Altfest and Robert Ross created Project TACT (Technical Automated Compatibility Testing). Participants paid $5 and answered roughly 100 multiple-choice questions about themselves. After submitting responses, cards printed out with names and phone numbers were provided. The concept of using formulas to match singles based on their like, dislikes and characteristics was born. The computer assisted matching concept however, would not catch on for several more decades. Other new concepts also arose in the dating industry. Shows such as The Dating Game brought the idea of matching strangers with similarities to the forefront of entertainment, with contestants asking questions of three potential matches...

Catfishing And Online Dating Fraud

Because of this, one would think that the attempts at intervention to try and stop this type of scam would increase also, but in reality no real progress has been made. The key to reversing the issue of online dating scams is identity verification.
