3 Questions to Ask Before Selecting a Pharmacy Home Delivery Service

...Selecting a Pharmacy Home Delivery Service The dynamics of filling out and picking up a basic prescription have changed. No longer do you have to stand in long pharmacy lines and wait your turn before picking up your prescription. Even with time saving measures such as having your doctor call in your prescription, you will still have to wait in line under traditional methods. With pharmacy home delivery, you do not even have to wait in line at all. Many people with prescriptions that are of a personal or sensitive nature appreciate this service. Even though the popularity of this type of service is increasing, you should ask yourself a few basic questions before you sign up for this type of service. What is the Start-Up Procedure? Ask your pharmacist for the best way to start using the pharmacy home delivery service. You may have to fill out forms so that you will create a home delivery account. This home delivery account will keep track of your prescriptions as they are sent by your doctor and filled by the pharmacist. Some pharmacy home delivery services may require that your doctor follow a special format when writing prescriptions. Contact your doctor at this point to find out if she will need to do this. What Do the Ordering and Refilling Processes Entail? You may be able to order and refill your prescriptions online, by phone or even by mail. Choose the best method for your needs. Comparison of Two Online Drugstores Between China and America

【Abstract】Online pharmacy store is also called electronic pharmacy store that provides customers drugs and related medical products through the Internet. The online pharmacy store has been developed dramatically because of it’s convenience, low price, freedom, and privacy by using the B2C e-commerce model. Although the online medical stores industry in China is growing significantly with the development of e-commerce, there are many problems are presented during the process. This paper is aims to find the method to develop Chinese e-medical industry by analyzing two different online medical stores Drugstore.com (USA) and Jxdyf.com (China).

...Competitive Companies and industry analysis The following competitor analysis will focus on the main rivalries of Walgreens in the United States as well as in Germany. The purpose is to evaluate the ‘market environment’ in order to decide on the appropriate entry strategy and to determine which current competitors constitute a threat for Walgreens. The competitor analysis is an essential measurement to improve decisions regarding the entry of Walgreens into the German market. The framework for the competitor analysis is based on the concept of ‚Porter’s Five Forces’. Porter identified five competitive forces that shape every single industry and market. These forces help us to analyze everything from the intensity of competition to the profitability and attractiveness of an industry. Figure 1 shows the relationship between the different competitive forces. | Figure 1: Porter\'s five competitive forces | Threats of new entrants and barriers to new entry Germany has made some restrictions regarding U.S trade and investment and the government has established formal barriers. It is therefore the case that foreign companies have a harder time to enter the German market because of the government restrictions. Government institutions need to verify the safety and quality of the products and companies need invest more for that reason (Strong, 2013). The bargaining power of suppliers According to M. SWOT Analysis A SWOT Analysis is a planning tool used to analyze an organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (Nickels, McHugh, & McHugh, 2010). CVS Caremark is the potential client that this SWOT Analysis will be conducted on in order to determine if they are the proper suitor for investors. Company Overview CVS was founded in 1963 as a company that specialized in health and beauty products. Over time pharmacies were added, and CVS quickly grew in store locations over the next 4 decades by buying smaller pharmacy chains (“Our Company,” 2012). The big change in CVS occurred in 1997 with the purchase of the Revco pharmaceutical chain. Revco and its 2,500 store chain was now a part of the CVS brand and this quickly established CVS as a powerhouse in the pharmaceutical industry. Up until 2006 CVS focused on purchasing smaller pharmacy chains, by this time CVS began to focus on a different market segment, retail health clinics. With the purchase of the 500 location Minute Clinic Company, CVS now branched out into a new market segment that focused on patients getting quick and affordable healthcare which combined with getting their...

Eye Presentation

...September 21st 2014 I have always enjoyed reading Jim Collins’ book “Good to Great”. In looking at his work there are a number of ideas and tips that can be utilized in health care. Collins does a very good job of describing how many successful companies are able to grow from good to great by having a changing environment, developing leaders, embracing technology, and establishing a culture of discipline. Collins stresses the importance of strategy and how all companies should be use the "hedgehog concept". Collins suggests using the following three criteria: 1) Determine what you can be best in the world at and what you cannot be best in the world at; 2) Determine what drives your economic engine; and 3) Determine what you are deeply passionate about. In health care I have seen examples of health care institutions using this philosophy in their strategic development. Below I have outlined five examples of strategic excellence. (Collins, 2001) First, the Cleveland Clinic has had a long reputation for medical excellence and minimizing costs of care. However, in 2009 Delos Cosgrove, CEO evaluated the performance of Cleveland Clinics nine hospitals and discovered low patient satisfaction was impacting their overall volumes. He decided they should focus on patient satisfaction and over the next three years Cleveland Clinic transformed themselves into one of the top hospitals in the nation in patient satisfaction. Cosgrove outlined a strategy to include everyone in the...

...the organizational structure in 2011, CVS has nominated its new CEO and changed six Vice Presidents. (The changes are highlighted in red in Figure 1.) The former CEO Thomas M. Ryan was also Chairman of Board. However, in 2013, CVS separated the CEO from Chairman of Board. Also, Helena Foulkes, who has been with CVS for over 15 years, has started a new position in Chief Health Care Strategy since 2011. This shows CVS’s attempt to intensify its ability of dealing with the ever-changing health care market demand and policies as well as its ambitious to keep leading the market. Customers and Services CVS’s business is comprised of Pharmacy Services segment, Retail pharmacy segment, and corporate segment. The Pharmacy Service provides a full range of pharmacy benefit management (“PBM”) services including mail order pharmacy services, specialty pharmacy services, plan design and administration, formulary management and claims processing. In order to stay competitive in the retail drug industry, CVS has been investing considerable money in improving its technology and services to make purchasing convenient and accurate for its customers. For example, CVS has an automatic prescription refill system that enables its customers to order prescription refills 24 hours a day using a touch-tone telephone. CVS’s...

...A confused high school kid walked into a pharmacy. Looked around and saw the scrubs and lab coats placed ever so gracefully on the pharmacists and pharmacy technician’s shoulders. "That's what I wanna do when I grow up" I thought to myself. Mesmerized by the importance of a pharmacy I scurried home and applied online. Months went by and I didn't get a single phone call. All of a sudden in the middle of summer I got a phone call for a job interview. I went in and filled out the necessary paperwork and the job was mine. On my first day of work I decided I would leave thirty minutes early just to get a feel of the place. I hopped in my car and took off. What happened next is a sign from god I should've taken seriously. A mile away from my destination I broke a stop sign and totaled my brand new car, but that didn't stop me. I got a ride from the police officer and went to work leaving my car completely abandoned and in the hands of the tow truck driver. Pharmacies are always busy. You always have to contact insurances, doctors, fill medication and that's when you're not taking care of customers. I was so accustomed to a lifestyle where I would lie in bed all day and watch reruns of friends or parks and recreation. Holding a job is hard, especially when you're selling hours of your life for eight dollars and twenty five cents an hour. I was only one month into that job when I realized that working in a pharmacy wasn’t all that luxurious, Most of the customers you deal with...

Accreditation Audit

...Melissa L. Nelcha AFT2- Task 1 Western Governors University October 25,2013 The Joint Commission has identified four distinct areas of concern within our accreditation audit. They are Communication, Information Management, Infection Control and Medication Management. While each of these is important, and vital in running Nightingale, the focus of this Summary will be on Medication Management. The reasons are as follows: * Errors can lead to increased hospital stays, possible lawsuits, and increased mortality rates, all of which affects our reputation within the community and elsewhere. * Due to the severity of the possible outcomes from medication errors, our company could end up having to pay out large sums of money to deal with repercussions of these errors in legal fees, etc. * Increasing numbers of Adverse Events can lead to a moratorium set on our facility, wherein we would not be allowed to accept any new patients, thereby losing untold amounts of money. A step this drastic can take years to fully recover from. * Having to legally inform the public of each and every adverse event coming from a Medication error could also cost us untold amounts of revenue. The Joint Commission Standard focused on in this summary will be Medication Management. There are three areas covered within the Medication Management Criteria. * Planning Medication Management processes * Labeling of Medications and devices used to administer them * Reducing patient...
