Online Schools: Summary And Analysis

I’m not sure where to begin, formally I have experiences in almost all kinds of education. I have been in public school, online charter, and private school education. Informally, many people have developed me into the person I am today, teaching me valuable life lessons that I should be grateful to have learned at such a young age.
In public school, the level of education standards was unfortunate. It wasn’t the subjects that were covered, more of the unfriendly atmosphere that kept me away from focusing on my schoolwork. I was bullied enough in public school, that I transferred to a local private school on scholarships and grants.
When first entering private school, I was shocked by the kindness I received. The teachers were understanding, …show more content…
Now I understand that these online schools are extremely helpful for some students, but I wasn’t one of the lucky ones. I didn’t like teaching myself, it was too hard, I didn’t have the help I needed, and I felt trapped. I felt like I was failing, and that really affected me. In online school, we do have to report to our teacher that we never get to see. She would call me, but sometimes I wouldn’t even pick up the phone. There was no way for her to come to my house, sit down with me, and help me to understand. Here, is where I understood the importance of a physical teacher, someone who you can have a face-to-face conversation with, and someone you could confide in if there was a problem in your studies. Luckily after the first semester of that school year, my scholarship was reinstated, and I was allowed to return to my regular classes at Our Lady of Port …show more content…
I knew this, and I was afraid. I knew without a large scholarship, I would have to return to either the place I was bullied, or the place I was ignored. I applied for the Neumann Scholarship test, but I didn’t get it. One day, I reported for gym class which was held in my school’s gym/auditorium, and I was surprised by the entire student body. In front of me were representatives from the John Vianney Scholarship foundation. They read my essay from the Neumann test, and they decided to give me a partial scholarship to a Catholic high school of my choice. This day I learned gratitude, these people gave me the chance to succeed and I will never let them down.
Informally, I have a lot of unique experiences. Some embarrassing, but important life lessons that I had to learn somewhere. My grandmother taught me the majority of lessons in my life. My parents weren’t always there for me, but grandma always was. She taught me basic things like cooking, cleaning, and how to care for myself. She taught me how to express myself, how to speak with other people, and how to live, eventually, without her. She taught me the importance of family, and how they will always be a safety net, catching me whenever I fall off my path to a better
