To what extent should basic education be privatized?
Education is defined as the process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgement and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life (dictionary.com). As times have evolved education is considered to be of great importance, especially in the modern complex industrialized society that we live in. In certain countries like Canada, The United States and The United Kingdom compulsory education has been established by the government which requires an individual to attend school till an age of 16 (source). Compulsory or mandatory education system has ensured that the literacy rate of the countries mentioned above remain at a 99% rate. As education has become increasingly vital in the modern era there are different types of education that a student may receive in a school. The main choices are narrowed down into two categories: public schools and private schools. A public school is a school provided by public funds whereas a private school is a school supported by a private organization or private individuals rather than by the government. As impressive as both the schools sounds there are some differences. Public schools provide a more assorted and varied experience than private schools however private schools are aimed to meet the needs of students with especially recognized educational requirements; That being said even though private schools do not follow the state laws of what needs to be taught there should be some government regulation involved when needed.
