SELF EVALUATION

1. What is your topic? .
I have chosen to write about why both parents should assume equal responsibility in raising a child.

2. What are the possibly different main claims/positions related to this topic? (There will be at least two (2) possibly different claims/positions, but there could be more; however, one of them will be YOUR claim/position.)
After doing much research I have found that many individuals, from both men and women, say that their decision is based upon what the circumstances are. Such as the saying it is better to come from a broken home than t live in one. For many people this means that their parents or they themselves were better off not being married to each other, especially for the children’s sake. Another point of view was the scientific approach. Mentally does it change a child when they have one parent or the other?

3. What is your position regarding the topic?
Women and men should share the responsibility to participate in raising their child and be complementary to each other, in order for the child to become a balanced and with strong personality. 4. What “evidence” have you offered to support your claim/position? Have you included your survey results? I have included a study that I have done on approximately fifty different people from both sexes. I have supported evidence on both the strengths and weaknesses of having both parents raise a child. 5. Put your claim/position and “evidence” through the “Scientific Method” and “Proving a theory” steps. Are there any steps on which your claim/position and evidence do not measure up to the examination? If so, what can you do to make them more acceptable?
There is always room for improvement when using the scientific method and proving a theory steps. As for my claim and evidence measuring up, I do believe that my research, thoughts, and evidence are very proficient. 6. Who is your intended audience? (This does not have to be specifically your instructor.)
My audience is anyone who would like to learn about others opinions, whether they agree or disagree with the outcome, regarding raising a child in this day and age. 7. What is your purpose? What do you want the audience to do, to feel, or to think? Remember that a persuasive paper is always asking for some sort of response from the audience.
I would like my audience to understand what it is like being a child without one parent or the other. It becomes very challenging for that child on many different levels. I would like for them to learn that just because you are not married or what have you to the other parent does not mean that they can not be involved in the children’s lives. 8. What words or phrases have you included to cause your audience to do, feel, or think the way that you want them to do, feel, or think? Include all of your motivational or empathetic “cues” for your audience.
I have used phrases such as “We are in this together…” , “I am speaking to you today,” “I am very confident that….”, “This stands to reason that…..” 9. How can your position actually better meet the needs of your audience than other possible positions?
My position can meet my audiences needs better than others due to research, time and thought I have not only put into this essay, but also from my life experiences as well. 10. What more might your audience need to know before they believe that they need to do, to feel, or to think that what you are suggesting should in fact cause them to be doing, feeling, or thinking something?
I believe that if they do not have children, for example, they should step back and look at a single mother or father and realize what that child does not have, not physically but emotionally and mentally what are they missing out on. 11. What position that is different from yours might cause your audience not to accept your position? (Note: There may be more than one.) Now that you have identified it, what do you need to add to your own argument to convince your audience that this alternate position should be rejected in favor of your own position?
I have heard many people say that they were divorced, the mother or the father didn’t want the other to see that child. I would like others to understand that they should not bring the child in the middle of the divorce. All a divorce mean is that the adults just couldn’t get along, not the parent and child. 12. Can you think of anything else that your audience might need in order to be persuaded by your argument?
I believe I have summed up my essay very accurately and persuasively.
