Abstract

This paper will discuss the different operation management policies and leadership practices at United Parcel Services (UPS), one of the premier shipping companies in the world. This paper will discuss the growth and different training programs that UPS offers to its managers and employees. It will also review the way external and internal works, failures of operation and how to anticipate a problem that UPS deal with on a daily day, UPS links millions of organizations and individuals together, by delivering an average of 15 million packages and documents in more than 220 countries and territories to achieve the growth of success.

Organizing Within UPS

UPS is one of the world's largest private logistics transportation and a global leader in OM. Our mission is to increase the efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of global commerce by combining the shipping activities of our customers into a single, highly efficient logistics network. UPS has been a marketplace innovator for more than a century, and we've maintained that pace. With 2009 revenue of 45.3 billion dollars and 1,801 operating facilities, UPS has certainly figured out how to efficiently and effectively organize their management within their corporation. Knowing how to resourcefully organize a management system within a corporation is a major step in successfully operating a business smoothly. Keeping the management organized and running efficiently is the next step in the successful business operation. Organizing management according to knowledge and technology is incredibly important to the world’s leading package-delivery company we know as the UPS Corporation.
