What are the advantages and disadvantages of this operating structure, compared to the other structures?
Advantages

One of the few advantages that functional structure has within the worker; her/she can be more efficient and can produce more than others. People who know there job and perform with little to no mistakes at all will become a powerful tool for a project management team. They will be the one who can motivate others around them because they clearly see their goal and how to reach it, in that same process, others can follow.
Functional structure puts everything in a form that everyone can easily follow, things in this structure are give in steps and gives the teammates more sense of comfortably in the project’s work while opening the door for expansion and the commutation between member is more simpler which will have better results when the time comes.

Disadvantages
Disadvantages of this structure are that since the team comes from different managers, the current project manager can find themselves hard to control the team. Different people that are being placed on one team may find it hard to adjust as quickly as some others so members on the new team will make things difficult. Since the project manager is in control, so they should be given more decision making privileges to keep the peace.
Since this a team that was formed inside the organization itself, it can be hard to replace a member with someone else with the same skill or expertise which will cause confusion for the rest of the team members. Placing another member on the team with more task than others will make one lose focus on what is to be accomplished.
