Fast and reckless down the trail, all we wanted was to embrace the moment. Our feet and skies were not visible because they were covered in snow. My nose red and cold, numb to the touch as if it wasn’t there. I was just trying to catch up with Zoey down the trail like a fish swimming swiftly. My skies going side to side faster and faster picking up pace on the steep mountain. I wanted to shout out “wait” to Zoey, but she was zoned into the trail and to far ahead of me to notice. “Ruby where are you?” I heard in the distance. Zoey must have stopped and was waiting for me. Also, in the distance I thought I heard thunder continuing to roar. It was so faint when I first heard it, but when I finally started to see Zoey’s purple jacket it was roaring louder like a dog growl. As Zoey’s face became clear her emotions showed it all. Snow was bearoling pass us, my legs buckled causing my skies to jerked off. As I was falling into the forboting snow i tried everything I could to keep my head free by the snow took over. My body had succumb to the cold heavy trap. Hyperventilating from the stress of being trapped I thought about Zoey. Was she ok? Did she get trapped like me? There have been numerous enquiries and studies into the accident to try to understand what happened, the goal of the enquiries was to establish where the fault and therefore guilt lay in order to ascertain compensation. This report attempts to apply key concepts from behavioural finance with a view to understanding the thought processes behind the decisions that were made. In the last decades there have been a lot of studies documenting the impact of psychological traits on the decisions made by managers. This report while touching on them, will not go into detail regarding the various technical difficulties encountered on the Deepwater Horizon and will instead focus on understanding the thought process of the various players involved. We will also briefly cover BP’s historical safety record as this will help us understand some of the behavioural factors in play within the organization.
