Persepolis is an autobiography written by Marjane Satrapi that takes place during the Islamic revolution. The main character of Persepolis, is a very bold character. Marjane is rebellious in a time where there is no freedom. Her acts of rebellion may not seem very rebellious to people today, but during the Islamic revolution, people had next to no freedom. Marjane also despises being controlled. Marjane is also able to get herself out of trouble in many situations. Marjane wants to show the world who she is, which is hard for her during the Islamic revolution. Marjane Satrapi is most prominently a resourceful orange temperament in view of the fact that she is resourceful, rebellious, and needs freedom. People who are of the resourceful orange temperament tend do not like to be restricted.1 In this graphic novel Marjane is very restricted because she is growing up during the Islamic revolution. Marjane is self expressive in a time where being self expressive is restricted. Marjane wants the freedom to dress as she chooses. She displays that when her parents come back from Turkey. Her parents give her shoes, and a new jean jacket in which she proudly wears outside the house, even if it could get her in trouble. She also shows her need for freedom through music. She hangs band posters up in her room and has a Michael Jackson pin. She also goes out to buy music to listen to, even if it is not allowed. Marjane's parents seem to give Marjane some of the freedom she desires. They allow Marjane to express herself, they even allow her to go out by herself. Marjane acknowledges this. She even says “For an Iranian mother, my mom was very permissive. I only knew two or three other girls who could go out alone at thirteen.”
