She has some difficulties to integrate in a team, she seems to be a little distant. 2. How do you perceive Melissa ?
She wants to be more listened, respected and wants to be supported. 3. How do you perceive Cory ?
He is very confident but he is not respectful and he does not seem to have a team spirit. 4. How do you perceive Scott and Tory?
They do not take care of their employees, they do not listen to them. 5. If you were Melissa, what would you do?
I think I would go to talk about the problems with Cory first, to let him know my relational difficulties with him, what I expect from him. If Cory does no effort, then I would complain to the boss. I think it is reasonable to try solving the problems with the concerned people first, rather in a discussion than during an argument. 6. If you were the leader, and Melissa came to your office complaining such situation, what would you do?
I would listen to her and I would discuss with other employees to know if Melissa is only one having a problem with Cory. If she is only one, I would meet with Cory and Melissa to solve the problems. ...Risk and Protective Factors for Depression: Implications for Prevention Depression in Children and Adolescents Linking Risk Research and Prevention Judy Garber, PhD Abstract: The National Institute of Mental Health has called for translational research linking basic knowledge about vulnerabilities that underlie mood disorders to the development of effective preventive interventions. This paper highlights research about risk factors for depression in children and adolescents and links it to current knowledge about interventions aimed at preventing depression in youth. Basic epidemiologic and clinical research indicates that increased risk for depression is associated with being female; a family history of depression, particularly in a parent; subclinical depressive symptoms; anxiety; stressful life events; neurobiological dysregulation; temperament/personality (e.g., neuroticism); negative cognitions; problems in self-regulation and coping; and interpersonal dysfunction. These vulnerabilities both increase individuals’ chances of encountering stress and decrease their ability to deal with the stress once it occurs. Although several existing depression-prevention studies have targeted one or more of these risk factors, the efficacy of these various prevention programs for youth with different combinations of these risk factors needs to be investigated further. HALL, PhDb ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: This study examines the relationship between sexual behavior, alcohol use, and indicators of psychosocial distress (mental health) of adolescents in 6 sub-Saharan African countries using the Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS). METHODS: The sample consisted of 22,949 adolescents from Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe who participated in 2003 or 2004 GSHS surveys. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine whether sexual behaviors increased with levels of psychosocial distress and alcohol use. RESULTS: Sexual behaviors (having sex or having sex with 2 or more people) were associated with both psychosocial distress and alcohol use. Odds ratios showed that both boys and girls reporting psychosocial distress and alcohol use were at higher risk for having sex. Results also indicated that the likelihood of sexual behaviors increased when there was an increase in the number of psychosocial indicators and frequency of alcohol consumption. CONCLUSION: The results of this study are consistent with those conducted in the United States suggesting that sexual behavior, psychosocial distress, and substance use are interconnected. With a significant sample of 8014 consumers, I first identify international segments in the European organic products market using the Values Theory.
