Mattel has always been known to be fun through the eyes of many. Mattel is best known as one of the ultimate toy companies in American history. Men named Harold Matson and Elliot Handler founded the company in 1945. Elliot’s wife, Ruth, later created the Barbie products. After the release of Barbie in 1959, Mattel revolutionized the toy industry with new, unique, and rich ideas. Once the Hot Wheel line was created in 1968, Mattel became the number one toy maker in America. Mattel is also known to have made and marketed the Nintendo Entertainment System. Mattel then moved production to China where they ended up testing positive for lead surface coating on toys. This, in return, forced Mattel to recall millions of products due to low productivity performances. At Mattel headquarters in El Segundo California, our Hot Wheel department strives to create new and exciting toys for the future. We are an organization aimed at creating the future of play. We constantly implement safety inspections, tests, as well as policies and guidelines to ensure the safety of our products. Doing this helps our organization compete with other companies around the world. Because our department is fairly large, our work environment has been built to accommodate our staff. We have a built in café, sleep rooms, game rooms, break rooms, multiple kitchens and meeting areas, as well as a design centers. And since children are our core clientele, we have a very playful work environment
