...Organizational Culture The culture of an organization is the foundation for how that organization operates. It directly affects the way leaders of the organization measure success and influences how every member of the organization operates on a daily basis. As the authors of Principles of Management, v. 1.1 (Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan, 2013) state, “An organization’s culture may be one of its strongest assets or its biggest liability” (p. 206). This paper will examine the culture of an organization very familiar to the writer. This examination will focus on its Orginazational Culture Profile (OCP) (Carpenter, Bauer, & Erdogan, 2013) and how this profile impacts the organization. Organization Overview The organization selected possesses several dynamics that contribute to an interesting cultural mix. The combination of being a publicly traded technology company along with being a regulated telephone company (TELCO) creates a very conservative yet aggressive and outcomes based culture. Additionally, organizational growth over the last several decades by way of mergers and acquisitions creates a unique blend of cultures. Telephone Companies tend to be very conservative by nature due to multiple factors. First, as a regulated entity, they are required to abide by specific local, state, and federal regulations. These regulations expose the company to civil and criminal penalties if violated. Second, because telephone companies provide services customers expect...

...Evaluation Overview The opportunity of taking the Seven Habits Profile (SHP) assessment revealed vital leadership characteristics and practices that I demonstrate. Using Transformational Leadership theory I will evaluate my results of this assessment. I chose Transformational Leadership theory because I would like to be a leader that has the ability to, “bring about innovation and change by recognizing followers’ needs and concerns” (Daft 2014). Strengths and weaknesses will be determined using the leadership theory and recommended practices will be discussed. Finally, short-term SMART (Specific, measurable, achievable, results-oriented, and time-bound) goals will be created to master skills that will improve my leadership abilities. The purpose of this paper is to conduct an evaluation overview of my leadership practices and show how the tools mentioned above will increase my potential to be an effective worker and future leader. ...professional development plan so that they have set goals and strategies to achieve the same goal at the end of the period (Multiprofessional Faculty Development, 2012). To help me develop this plan each team member has been asked to take the DISC Assessment. DISC is a personal assessment used to determine behavior types, and how to interpret the behavior (DiSC Profile, n.d.). The DISC assessment has four styles it uses as a determination. They are Cautious (C Style), dominance (D Style), interactive (I Style) and steadiness (S Style). A cautious person is detail orientated, a slow worker and has very high expectations for themselves. A person who is dominance is very goal orientated, need control and must achieve their goals. A interactive person is very enthusiastic, must have acknowledgment and has great people skills. A person who is determined with steadiness is a devoted worker, great team player but slow in decision-making. Each one of these styles is vital to an organization and will be a valuable asset.
