Part I Chapter 4 Read Why did Navy leaders allow offensive videos to be shown on the USS Enterprise? Answer the following question: Does Capt. Honor’s behavior fit your schema for an effective leader? Explain The total length of your answer should be greater than 400 words but no more than 600 words
After reading this story about Mr. Owens Paul Honors, Jr., I actually remembered hearing about this on the news. Owen Paul Honors, Jr. definitely made some mistakes with this type of actions. It is really hard to judge him based solely on this mistake or lack of better judgment. We are all human and we all make mistakes, to what level of mistake we make determines the discipline. This one of course because it hit the news, he had to be reprimanded in order to show the integrity with the United States Military.

I think with Mr. Honors having the support of 100% of the Enterprise workers says a lot for this gentleman. His work record had demonstrated that he knew how to command a ship and had respect amongst his fellow comrades and from the people underneath him.

As far as my thoughts on his direct behavior with this certain incident, well it was pretty immature on his part and he set himself up for major discipline and loss of respect. This subject is a very sore subject among the service men and women and I feel that when the ruling came down from President Obama, it probably sent him over the edge and attributed to his poor judgment.

I would have thought about my actions before distributing the material out to everyone and might have would of waited before even letting anyone see this until I had time to think about it. And I would not have put myself out like that being in the situation and command that he was in. Mr. Honors had a moment of weakness and displayed himself, no less in a very bad spot. Everyone is different in how things affect the way they function. This one must have upset him to the point of breaking.

I still think that he is a good leader and has been trained by the United States Navy to be an effective leader. He would fit my schema in effect for some of his important leadership, however, I would not have put myself out there the way he did and lose my creditability within the Navy and with my teammates or shipmates.

I have noticed as a leader that perception is reality and when people see things through their eyes it is their truth. So portray myself with dignity and respect so that my employees will as well.

Part II Chapter 5 Read The Man Behind Facebook Answer the following question: In the context of the chapter-opening case, do you have what it takes to become a high level executive? Explain. The total length of your answer should be greater than 400 words but no more than 600 words

After reading the story about Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook, I really think that I have what it takes to do anything that I want to do. At this time I feel I made need some more experience, but I truly believe anyone can succeed at anything if they have the right frame of mind and the right passion and drive. I will not ever say that I do not have what it takes to be a high level executive as I have the same ability as anyone else.
Mr. Zuckerberg seemed to always have a presence about him that demanded more. He needed to know the reasons behind every answer or every action. With this type of demeaner comes a smart and intelligent individual that doesn’t want to rest on his lorels and life happen around him. He wanted to take life by the head and steer it.
I think that Mark has a proactive personality and I feel that I do as well. I am “someone who is relatively unconstrained by situational forces and who effects environment change. Proactive people identify opportunities and act on them, show initiative, take action, and persevere until meaningful change occurs.” (page 120).
One must have a good self esteem, be emotionally stable, have a positive, can do attitude and be self efficient in order to accommodate the needs of being a high level executive.

OCB includes three critical aspects that are central to this construct.
