Our Great Adventure

When some friends of ours offered us a piece of property in Tennessee, we jumped at the prospect of moving to the mountains. For us, moving to the Tennessee Mountains was to be a great adventure for my family, but with all of the problems that we would encounter; it turned out to be something that we wanted to forget. We were moving to the mountains to start a family adventure. We were looking forward to being able to see the seasons change with the vivid fall colors and seeing snow for the first time. My son was thrilled about living in the woods and being able to see the wildlife, such as deer, come into our backyard. We just knew we were going to enjoy living in a small town where everyone knows everyone. The town was so small, that it only had 600 residents. This was going to be a new experience to build our new home ourselves, with the help of a contractor. Right from the very beginning we started having problems; we couldn’t seem to get anyone who wanted to work with us. There were so many things to have done that we didn’t even know where to start first. We had to have the land cleared, have a septic system installed, to build a 20 x 20 metal garage and have a well dug. By now with the weather getting colder our tiny camper wasn’t sufficient for the winter, so we decided to order a manufactured home. Since it was starting to get cold we moved into the 20 x 20 garage, where we had a wood burning stove. In November 1996, with winter coming we ordered a manufactured home. Needless to say it was a really cold winter that year and our home was not delivered until February 1997. It was really hard to deal with the cold weather, especially living in a metal garage without adequate insulation or heating causing the bolts used in

My name is Sarah Smith and I am the marketing director at Six Flags. It has come to our attention that your fifth grade class has received a grant for an all expenses paid field trip and is in the process of picking a destination. I am writing this letter to request an opportunity to come to your school and talk to your fifth graders about the benefits of choosing Six Flags as their destination. A field trip to Six Flags would offer your students a chance to have fun while learning. They would have a chance to experience the Safari and the theme park during their trip. Normally our educational programs are geared toward middle school and high school age students but I am confident that we can adapt our math and physics day programs for your elementary school students. During these programs they learn math and science concepts while having fun riding the rollercoasters. They will also have a chance to go through a guided Safari tour where they will learn about all of the animals we have in our park. I thank you for your time and guarantee that, if chosen, your students will have an enriching experience at our theme park. You can contact me in my office at 631-555-4444. ...went up the ride slowly but surely and on the peak of the hill we dropped. We were going at least 90 miles per hour. The feeling was us falling off the ride we went up and down. iThere were twist and turns all around and a final stop. It felt as if I got shocked with 30 watts of electricity. The feeling was intense. This was the turning point of my visit. After riding the batman and Harley Quinn Spin Sanity we were dumbfounded but excited. We had to leave eventually though. As I left I wondered. ”When is the next time im coming here?” I learned some important things though I couldn’t talk about it though because my throat hurt for days from the screaming on the Goliath. I had fun and realized it wasn’t that bad. I lay in wait for my next adventure at Six Flags. Also don’t spend all your money at six flags. I unfortunately spent all mine. Oh well. ...didn’t answer . He went inside for about 5 minutes and then came back out. He got in the car and told me, “I had to get the tickets.” He handed each of us one red paper wristband. He told us that the place where my grandpa works was having a company picnic at the Six Flags picnic area so we had to wear the wristbands to get into the picnic. We left my grandparent’s house and continued driving. When we got to a bridge that is close to Six Flags my dad said, “Everyone look your windows and across the lake!” We all looked out our windows and saw a huge roller coaster across the lake. I couldn’t wait because we were almost at Six Flags. In about 10 minutes we arrived at the Six Flags parking lot. We parked and then waited at the tram station. When the tram arrived at the tram station we got on and it brought us to a staircase that was painted to look like a giant pile of M&Ms. We climbed the stairs and waited in a big line to get in the park. We gave them our tickets and went through a metal detector then we entered the park. As we walked around the park we got to the DC super heroes area. My dad looked up and said, “Mathieu, you should go on this roller coaster with me.” I looked up and saw the huge 208 foot drop of Bizarro. “OK”, I said because I had never been on a roller coaster but I would soon learn my lesson. My dad and I waited in line for about a half an hour. While we waited in line I was so nervous. When we got to the car of Bizarro we got in. My dad couldn’t ride...

Tom Sawyer Argumentative Essay

...Many parents think it's a terrible idea for their kids to read The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Twain uses the offensive n-word throughout his novel. The word was demeaning when Twain wrote it and still is to this day. This book is disapproved for its portrayal of blacks and Native Americans. Most people just can’t get past the n-word and all of the casual insults and racial prejudice in the book. There is also a general sense of lawlessness present in the novel. Tom Sawyer could be deemed a subversive person. Nevertheless, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer should be included in every school’s curriculum because it has stood the test of time and is a substantial model of literary construction while also leaving us with important life lessons. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer...

Tourism Planning

...Sarangani Province, composed of one landlocked and six coastal towns, is found in the southern tip of Mindanao. Sarangani Province's earliest known inhabitants were Maguindanaon, B'laan, T'boli and ethnic tribes in the uplands.  Christian migration from the Visayas and Luzon islands in the early 1900s opened its vast, fertile lands to agriculture. It’s just really a small baranggay with a small population, it’s about 200-300 people living there. ...Baggins is called Bag End. It is quite a pleasant dwelling, with comfortable furniture and a well-stocked kitchen, nestled in a snug little village under a hill. Bilbo’s ancestry is somewhat noble by hobbit standards: his father was from the well-to-do, conventional Baggins family, but his mother was from the Tooks, a wealthy, eccentric family infamous for their unhobbitlike tendency to go on adventures. Despite his Took blood, however, Bilbo prefers to stay at home and live a quiet life. On the day the story begins, Bilbo is enjoying a pipe outside his front door when an old man with a long cloak and a staff arrives. After the old man introduces himself, Bilbo recognizes him as the wizard Gandalf, who has created spectacular fireworks displays on holidays in Hobbiton, but Bilbo still looks on the old wizard with a suspicious eye. When Gandalf asks if Bilbo would be interested in going on an adventure, Bilbo declines and quickly excuses himself. He invites the wizard to come over for tea sometime but only so as not to seem rude—in reality, he wants nothing to do with Gandalf and his adventures. When the doorbell rings the next afternoon, Bilbo assumes it is Gandalf. To his surprise, a dwarf named Dwalin pushes past him and promptly sits down to...

I don’t think they have any shipping issues at the company, I just think I missed the package or something due to my unique situation. Because of this, I e-mailed our ever-patient crew leader and she gave me the link to the download. This product is available for purchase through both formats, either a physical CD or a download. Science Remains Undiscovered

...set out for our great journeys that are filled with lots of adventures, fun and excitement. This time we thought we would go trekking. I was so excited that I could not sleep for days. I have only seen in movies and read in books how difficult it is and how one does trekking. My father told me that I would not be allowed great heights and no fuss at the location and so I had no choice, other than listen to him. We, along with our family friends, on our holidays planned our trip and started preparations for it. We used to do our daily exercises so that it would strengthen our bones and muscles for the climb. On the D-day we were so excited that we kids could not control it. With lots of instructions and warnings we stared our journey and the much awaited journey came to an end. When we reached our destination. It was real fun. First we kids were allowed to climb for a small height. It was really adventurous. Stepping on the foot of a mountain to climb it is really exciting. We tried hard, but could not make it to a good height that we could. Then our parents went and they too had a tough time. Slipping and falling and then again retrying, it was all so much fun. We then took a break and tried climbing once again, this time getting better. We were briefed with the risks involved and so we were not ready to take so much of the risk. This was truly an adventurous journey that I`ve had so far. Lots of excitement, dangers involved fun and on the whole a great experience was...

Analytical Essay of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

...American Literature 23 November 2009 Analytical Essay of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, was written by Mark Twain and originally published in 1884 during a time when slavery was prominent in the United States. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is the story regarding the interracial friendship between the two main characters, Huck and Jim. Huck is a young white male who is on the run, making his getaway from his abusive father. While escaping the life he lived, his adventures take him down the Mississippi River. Jim is a black escaped slave, making the same journey along the Mississippi River as Huck, making his way to freedom. As they experience different adventures on their travels along the Mississippi River, Huck and Jim form a very unique friendship. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn became a book that both revolutionized American literature and became a book at the center of literary debate (Webb). Many people regard The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as one of the greatest novels in American literature; others think it celebrates racism and should be banned from our schools. “In recent years the racial (and racist) implications of every aspect of the novel have been subject to critical debate, as have questions about the racial beliefs of the author”(Levine 95). The reason for the wide spread debate is mainly due to the books vernacular use of the word “nigger” and, although some argue that the novel is extremely racist,...
