Outlaw The Donkey In George Orwell's Animal Farm

Outlaw the donkey was an old animal when he finally decided to hand over his power as leader of the barn to another capable animal that might be able to do the job as well as Outlaw imagined he had. In reality, Outlaw had been a terrible leader who had done plenty of wrong things. Perhaps if they were living in another time, such as in the past, the donkey would have been kicked out of his office, but these were modern times and the other animals care more for themselves rather than the greater good of the farm. If they had cared even a little, life on the farm would have been much more enjoyable, but sadly, it wasn’t. In good time, Outlaw called a meeting of all the animals in the barn. During the meeting he planned to announce a new leader over the animals, and, to hopefully gain their favor, he chose to continue allowing them to elect their own leader. Minutes later, donkeys, horses, dogs, chickens, sheep, geese, ducks, birds, cats, cows, and pigs poured into the tiny red barn. A great murmur set over the crowd as they patiently awaited the arrival of Outlaw. None of the animals knew why they had been summoned there that day. The last time something like this had happened was eight years ago and hardly an animal was alive that could remember what had taken place that day. …show more content…
