However, little research has been done in The Bahamas to determine what Bahamian educators can do to support second language learners in their classrooms. This paper assesses: 1. The impact of Sustained Silent Reading on comprehension for ELLs 2. The impact of Think Aloud and Read Aloud on reading comprehension for ELLs. This research suggests that the use of these strategies can play an important role in students’ abilities to read and comprehend texts on their own.
