...An Alpine Divorce by Robert Barr In some natures there are no half-tones; nothing but raw primary colours. John Bodman was a man who was always at one extreme or the other. This probably would have mattered little had he not married a wife whose nature was an exact duplicate of his own. Doubtless there exists in this world precisely the right woman for any given man to marry and vice versa; but when you consider that a human being has the opportunity of being acquainted with only a few hundred people, and out of the few hundred that there are but a dozen or less whom he knows intimately, and out of the dozen, one or two friends at most, it will easily be seen, when we remember the number of millions who inhabit this world, that probably, since the earth was created, the right man has never yet met the right woman. The mathematical chances are all against such a meeting, and this is the reason that divorce courts exist. Marriage at best is but a compromise, and if two people happen to be united who are of an uncompromising nature there is trouble. In the lives of these two young people there was no middle distance. The result was bound to be either love or hate, and in the case of Mr. and Mrs. Bodman it was hate of the most bitter and arrogant kind. In some parts of the world incompatibility of temper is considered a just cause for obtaining a divorce, but in England no such subtle distinction is made, and so until the wife became criminal, or the man became both criminal...

...do this, what happens if I fail, how do I juggle my personal responsibilities, will this degree even matter? Now there are credible fears and ludcrious fears in life and for me all these fears boil down to the fear of failure- I don’t want to go through all this hardship and end up flat on my face. I even would go as far to say that most of my early life’s disillusionment stemmed from this fear. Rather than try I would just be critical of those who did. Taking my education and viewing it as a life enhancement will help me during the times of struggle towards my degree. Ultimately, whether or not this gets me a better paying job, the tools I learn here will help me in all the endeavors of my life. Taking this approach will impact the outlook when life wont work how I think it should based on what I’ve done. The question now is, understanding the challenges I face, how will I take responsibility of my success? As I’ve alluded to before, the first step is to transform the way I think. It will do me no good when the struggles arise if I look at college with resentment. I must see this as value added. For me, when things are a positive, it makes it easier to handle the bad that always come along with it. The follow through with this will be the pratical application of this mindset. Some of these would be to prioritize my time and make the most of it when I have it. In conclusion, I find that life is a summation of choices and whatever has happened in your life, you can choose...

In today's challenging economy, mergers and acquisitions are becoming commonplace as a way for firms to expand geographically and obtain profitable growth. The climate is heating up. The level...

...Changing Outlook Laura Fisher COMM/215 August 7, 2012 Amber Green Changing Outlook Since unemployment is still on the rise it is important that the unemployed and underemployed focus on reinventing themselves to either keep the position they have or make themselves more appealing to employers who are hiring. According to Hyslop (2011) “Unemployment in the United States has skyrocketed as a result of the recession, the loss of jobs to globalization, and increased use of technology to produce goods that were previously produced by individuals” (p. 16). If an employer is aware that it has the opportunity to bring in a higher level of talent it will. An employer will be more quickly to relieve an employee of his or her position if the employee’s attitude is poor or skills are outdated. Even with the changes in the economy and job market there are opportunities to become a leader, project a positive attitude, and update current skills by acquiring higher educational certificates or degrees. “Leadership comes in many forms, and it is a behavior, not necessarily a position or job title” (Cavallari, 2012, p. CL1). Create change by simply making suggestions. Equipment budgeting may be a challenge for a company, so finding ways to eliminate waste and teaching others to do the same will save the company money. Becoming a leader means becoming trustworthy, listening to others, and sharing experience and skills. When employees lead by example, they can make small or even...

...Few industries can match aircraft manufacturers and carriers for their volatility (Strategic Direction, 2004) – there are so many strategic factors that can affect the financial bottom line. The last three decade we have seen such imponderables make in the battle between Airbus and Boeing even more fascinating. For Taylor (2003), the fight for supremacy between these two manufacturers puts such titanic confrontations as Ford versus Chevy and Nokia versus Motorola in the shade. This paper takes an empirical approach to examining international competition and marketing strategy adaptation in the wide-body aircraft market. The discussion topic will be organized into three sections, beginning with failure start of Airbus Industry GIC. Explaining in deep analysis of the reason behind the difficulties that Airbus faced when entering upon the civil aviation industry. While we continue on to the second part where Airbus have broken ground with a leading market share in the late 90s, what marketing strategy did Airbus initiate in order to achieve this enormous success when going against its sole competitor the mighty Boeing. Last but not least, the current market condition. The difference in strategy that each of the duopoly has apply, Airbus going for the large airliner in hub-and-spoke system and Boeing targeting at manageable size and fuel efficient in a point-to-point configuration. Airbus has come far and long, with a sizable success in gaining market share from its monopolistic...
