In Exporting America journalist Lou Dobbs exposes multinational corporations that are shipping American jobs overseas to low wage countries. He basically states outsourcing American jobs to foreign countries has caused too many problems in the United States. Companies are literally giving away American jobs to foreigners because they will work for pennies on a dollar and no benefits. Lou tells how the power and financial strength of Multinational corporations has affected the political agenda. These corporations pay millions of dollars a year to elected officials for their own personal agenda. This helps on the off-shoring of jobs because these elected officials are preaching free trade. He explains and makes and attempts to dispel the twelve myths of outsourcing and free trade as well as the high cost of free trade. The current process of globalization has generated unbalanced outcomes, both between and within countries. Wealth is being created, but too many countries and people are not sharing in its benefits. They also have little or no voice in shaping the process. These global imbalances are morally unacceptable and politically unsustainable (Stiglitz pg 7). I am an Anti-Globalist because there is nothing Global about Globalization. I agreed with everything Lou Dobbs wrote in this book. I have been a victim of outsourcing, having to train my replacements or forfeit my severance and unemployment. I am totally against off-shoring jobs. What I find odd is out of all the outsourcing being done, when was the last time anyone has heard of a senior manager or CEO jobs being outsourced? This will never happen because these are the same people that participate in the Business Roundtable and agree that outsourcing is good. Outsourcing has caused a major uproar in this country.
