For e.g. the person who is developing new medicines and person who inventing new machineries use different methodology but their basic approach is same. The meaning of ‘research’ differs from one academic discipline to another. Meaning of Research
Research is a structured investigation. The word ‘research’ means re-search i.e., systematic investigation for relevant information in a specific field or topic to find out some hidden facts or to find out better solutions to the problems. An e.g. is investigating on the leaves of the pea plant to know about the minute matters in it and to take steps to protect it from the attack of insects.
The meaning of the word ‘research’ given in the Advanced Learner’s dictionary of current English is that “a careful investigation or inquiry specially through search for new facts in any branch of knowledge”.

Different scientists defined research in different ways. For e.g., D. Slesinger and M. Objectives are the steps that are taken to answer research questions or a specific list of tasks needed to accomplish the goals of the project. It is divided into segments: first of all, new insight into the phenomenon. Then, do systematic investigation of existing phenomenon to familiarize with it. Know existing and current methods and establish relationship for selection. For e.g., consider the field of agriculture; investigate about the new machineries existing like transplanter, Dry Manure spreader, Rice huller, etc. Develop new fully automated machineries with help of embedded systems.

Research studies on the basis of objectives can be categorized to the following broad groupings:
1. Exploratory or formulative research studies

...03-Bloomberg-45467.qxd 12/26/2007 11:52 AM Page 65 CHAPTER 3 Presenting Methodology and Research Approach OVERVIEW Chapter 3 of the dissertation presents the research design and the specific procedures used in conducting your study. A research design includes various interrelated elements that reflect its sequential nature. This chapter is intended to show the reader that you have an understanding of the methodological implications of the choices you made and, in particular, that you have thought carefully about the links between your study’s purpose and research questions and the research approach and research methods that you have selected. Note that in the proposal’s chapter 3, you project what you will do based on what you know about the particular methods used in qualitative research, in general, and in your tradition or genre, in particular; hence, it is written in future tense. In the dissertation’s chapter 3, you report on what you have already done. You write after the fact; hence, you write in past tense. As such, many of the sections of chapter 3 can be written only after you have actually conducted your study (i.e., collected, analyzed, and synthesized your data). To write this chapter, you need to conduct literature reviews on the methodological issues involved in qualitative research design. You need to show the reader that you (a) have knowledge of the current issues and discourse, and (b) can relate your study...

Although the discussion on methodology of Islamic economics in contemporary Islamic economics literature is rather limited, this paper reviews the works of selected scholars who have attempted to present works on ‘methodology’ and their approach to the process of theory building in Islamic economics. The paper then presents some implications of these views based on the position that methodology investigates the criteria, rationalizations, arguments and justifications used in theory appraisal as well as evaluating the reliability of theories, this paper concludes that greater resources, both human and financial, need to be channeled to developing uÎūl al-iqtiÎād, a fundamental, but vastly, neglected area of research in contemporary Islamic economics. Company Profile for Internship

...Accounting research is hard to define because it has shifted over time. As a rough overview, early accounting research (pre-1960s) was mostly normative (i.e., argued for the “correct” accounting treatment, or what should be). With the advent of the Journal of Accounting Research, advances in finance such as the efficient market hypothesis, creation of large data sets and the statistical abilities to analyze them (i.e., computers), and the publication of Ball and Brown’s seminal work in 1968, accounting research moved into positive research (i.e., examining what is rather than what should be). Although this change has had its critics, it has resulted in a significant increase in research output (and many new journals). A cynical definition of research is: any paper that cites a lot of other accounting papers must be accounting research. This “quick and dirty” definition restricts accounting research to topics and methodologies that are well established in the literature; it is “safe” but somewhat limiting. More rigorously, Oler, Oler, and Skousen (2009) attempt to characterize accounting research by looking at the topics, research methodologies, and citations made by papers published in a set of six top accounting journals (AOS, CAR, JAE, JAR, RAST, and TAR). Their work can be criticized, though, because they do not consider all accounting journals, and because their categorizations of topics (6 of them) and research methodologies (7 of them) are broad. In spite of shortcomings...
