A health service is a service that provides care and is under the NHS. For examples hospitals or a G.P. They provide treatments but also prevent illnesses through health promotions. A social care service is about providing support to individuals to help them get by and who ever needs it such as emotional support or practical support with daily living tasks.
Statutory care is care that’s paid for and provided by the government and is welcome to everyone. For example, the children’s hospital.
Private care is care that is paid for and isn’t funded by the government. People go private to get things such as scar deduction, moles and lumps removed or operations that they don’t want to wait a long time for.
Voluntary care is care provided by charities which is free. Examples are places such royal society for the blind and st Luke’s hospice.
Informal care is care provided by someone close such as a friend or family member. For example someone giving you a hot drink or soup when you’re ill.
Private health insurance is when you pay for private health care each month instead of paying up front each time you go. It covers anything apart from pre-existing conditions such as diabetes.
Primary care is the first point of contact for people with a health need and is usually provided in the community. Examples of primary care include a pharmacist, walk in centre, a GP, an optician and a dentist.
Secondary care is a second or more specialist care, often in a hospital. You have to be referred to secondary care. Examples of secondary care include maternity ward, ambulance services and a local asthma clinic.
Tertiary care is a third or very specialist care. It is specialist hospital units and you would have to be referred. Examples of tertiary care are an oncology department, neo-natal unit and a dialysis unit.
The NHS provide free health care services for individuals who
