...Much Ado About Nothing Essay Do you ever wonder what makes a healthy relationship? Love, loyalty, trust, respect, forgiveness, and communication are some of the main qualities that strong relationships must have. Beatrice and Benedick have a healthier relationship than Hero and Claudio because Beatrice and Benedick have more respect, they communicate often, and they accept each other's flaws. Although they are both happy within their relationship, Beatrice and Benedick exhibit more of these essential qualities. Beatrice and Benedick have more...

...having a subject? When there is not a subject or the subject is “nothing” the appropriate method would be to turn in a paper with nothing but empty space. This is what happens when I do not receive homework I e-mailed about and do not have what I need to do this assignment properly. The controversy stems from if I have nothing to use as a subject, do I still have a subject to use? I say yes but you may disagree. Nothing but empty space The main points of the article talk about how if you have nothing in empty space it is different than having a vacuum or lack of existence. The first point is just because you can not see anything there it does not mean it void of everything. The second point is even if there is no matter in a specific area there can still be other measured substances. The third point is that even where it appears to be nothing there can still be an atomic weight. The fourth point is that nothing can be powerful. The last point is the emptiness is more of a matter of perspective. People assume that just because they can not see anything that there is nothing there. This is far from the truth. If I asked you to look at the edge of this paper would you say this is nothing there? There is something there. There are atoms that reflect the color white. If you are looking at this on a computer screen there are electrons converted into a binary system of control. Thus, even if it looks like nothing there is still quite a bit going on in that space. Even...

...Danish artist and author who is renowned for his talent of been able cut and fold paper to build paper sculptures. Particularly noteworthy are his works where the remains of the cut and folded objects are literally shadows of the objects former self. Peter Callesen uses the positive and negative space to tell a story about the past and future of his subject using only a white sheet of paper. Callesen also works with a variety of other medias including installations, performances, and monoprints. Callesen creates artwork from A4 paper and in large-scale installations. Each work is created from one sheet of paper whether it be in three-dimensional flowers falling from a bouquet's negative, a hummingbird flying from the page, or a child-size castle crafted from a billboard-sized paper. Callesen paper cut sculptures show the transformation of the flat sheet of paper into figures that expand into the space surrounding them. The negative and absent 2 dimensional space left by the cut, points out the contrast to the 3 dimensional reality that it creates. Callesen’s recent exhibitions: 2011 • House of Paper - Sørlandets Art Museum, Norway • Out of Nothing - Haugar Vestfold Art Museum, Tønsberg, Norway 2010 • Out of Nothing - Mjelby Art Museum, Halmstad, Sweden • Skin of Paper - Nikolaj Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center 2009 • Out of Nothing - Trapholt, Kolding, Denmark • Out of Nothing - The Museum of Religious Art, Lemvig, Denmark 2008 • Perry Rubenstein Gallery...

...Compare and Contrast Essay 5/12/2014 Ashford University English 121-AXC1415E Instructor: Jamie Cooper Student: Katherin Wheat When it comes to writing the compare and contrast essay style, it is one of the more difficult ones to achieve. The differences between these two essays “How to say nothing in 500 words” by: Paul McHenry Roberts and “caged bird” by: Maya Angelou is easy to pick out. As far as the similarities goes that proved to a little harder to give a lot of examples. In the following paragraphs there will be plenty of examples of compare and contrast, give summaries, a couple of quotes and a paraphrase will be included in this essay. While how to say nothing in 500 words and Caged Bird are both well-written essays, caged Bird was more visual than How to say nothing in 500 words because the author painted a more detailed picture which kept the reader’s attention, the attended audience was more overly open to more people than that of how to say nothing in 500 words essay, and the author of caged bird had a bigger and deeper impact on the readers then the author of how to say nothing in 500 words did. Caged Bird was more visual than How to say nothing in 500 words because the author painted a more detailed picture which kept the reader’s attention. Maya Angelou’s descriptive essay “Caged bird” tells a story of a caged bird and a free bird. The caged bird signifies a person with the skin color darker than that of a peach colored crayon, held down by the paralyzing...

...SAYING NOTHING IN 250 WORDS Tomi Newman English 121 Miranda Saake April 26, 2015 The purpose of this paper that was written was how to topic write about nothing in 500 words, and the topic was college football, which the writer has no knowledge about. He clearly is writing to just fill in the required 500 words. And do I ever feel his pain. This is a hard topic, I to know nothing about college football. Now if it was on basket ball, I at least relay some input. But I too have nothing on football. I believe he is using the literary element, Point of view The essay seems to be objective and unbiased in thought. Even though he doesn’t know anything about college football. He is making a great effort to complete this assignment, when he has no knowledge of football. The writer uses the point of view element well, as I read the essay. It’s clear that he is not comfortable writing this about this topic. I too would not be comfortable about football. But it’s clear he is trying to complete his assignment. You’ve got to give him credit for trying. He is just using an objective thoughts. Trying to fill his...

...coming to town makes the smiles on Doug and RT´s faces even bigger. As the excitement gets bigger, the closer the circus gets to the small town and Doug is dying of delight. The two boys decides to go do the railway to see the circus arriving, and the looks of the big animals and the clumsy clowns surprises the two young boys in a way they have never tried. But when the two boys come home, they find Doug’s dad in shock of what he have read in the paper. Headlines with the word “Atom-bomb” and “Cold war” makes the father scared of what might come out of the war that is unfolding. The family situation gets more and more stressed as the dad reads aloud from the paper. The family is in shock, but the two boys are not in the same mood as the two parents. They can’t relate to what is happening around them and what might happen if something goes wrong. This really shows the difference of how the two boys look at the world, and how Doug’s parents react when they see the article in the paper. The two grown-ups get all worked up and scared about what might happen,...

...downs. I've been able to write papers but I've always needed a little bit of help to complete them. My mom has always been there when I am having problems writing papers. There have been times where I am amazing at them and knock them out like nothing. These are papers are usually short stories or something I can relate to. Then theres times where nothing comes to me and it seems like it takes forever to write them. When writing the papers one of the difficulties came from what I was writing about. In high school papers stressed me out because I knew I was going to have trouble with them. When I had to write my paper for chemistry, I worried about the length, how many citation, and how to cite it. I ask myself how does confidence impact my ability to write? On the one hand the papers I have the most confidence writing and I favor the most are ones where we have to tell a made up story or about a life event. I can write these very easily because I can remember the event very vividly or can make up a story with lots of detail. With event stories I usually just remember then write and occasionally go back to reread and fill some parts with more detail. In high school one of the first papers I had to write in my English class about a life event that changed your life. I thought to myself this is really easy to write about. I had an idea and there was no length on the paper so I didn't have to worry about how long it was. I was ready for this paper. I had confidence and I knew inside...

...things especially in my English 1101 class. I thought I knew everything there was to know about writing when I came in on my first day, but I was very wrong. My professor assured me that there is much more to writing than just putting words down on paper. Knowing all of this, I have now learned how to improve on my writing skills, how to write better grammatically correct sentences, incorporate quotes and research and give as well as get criticism. When I came into this semester as a freshman I was very confident in the quality of my writing. However, my self-esteem was soon crushed shortly thereafter. Even though my writing skills had been very good compared to my classmates in high school, at the university level they were just average. After hearing about the on average grades students get in professor Elliott’s class, I knew I had a lot of work to do to receive an A on a paper. I had to do something quick to learn how improve on my writing skills. With the help of my teacher, she made us a read a variety of articles that were very interesting, yet also very insightful and helpful at the same time. One article that really stood out to me was called “Engfish.” In high school, teachers tend to get really impressed if you have really big words in a paper, but when you incorporate such large words, you tend to start losing your argument and start talking about nothing. After reading about “Engfish and having these helpful hints my professor threw my way, I...

...Paper, a simple material comprised primarily of pulp has served as both a tool to express one's self and as a gateway into the human being for millenniums, and serves as a vital object of expression for the female protagonist in "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. A blank piece of paper means nothing, but what it asks is what gives it meaning. In this story the blank paper, the journal, was beckoning the protagonist, beckoning her to express herself in it and give it meaning. Then as she wrote, the paper became almost alive as a fragmented part of the protagonist herself. This nothing became a core component that provided depth, understanding, and progression to the story; the paper was the story. "I would not say it to a living soul, of course, but this is dead paper and a great relief to my mind." This particular line, what felt almost like a toss away line to the protagonist is in fact essential for two reasons. The first is that it informed the reader that this story is a journal. The second is that the paper has succeeded in it's goal to...

...relevant to your topic. What did you learn how to do that you didn’t know before about this kind of library/research work? Offer specific examples from work you completed as part of this class that demonstrates that you have achieved this goal. The most important thing I learned was that the library is so much more than a place to borrow books and study for midterms/finals. First, there is a librarian assigned to your major which is extremely helpful because they are like a mini expert on many of the topics you may need help on. Second, there are many databases with sources that are available online to Fisher students, which can help when doing any type of written submission for a class. Finally, I learned that Rochester has such a vast history that I knew absolutely nothing about before I stepped foot in the class. I used Kate Ross a few times to help locate additional sources for my project. I also used ProQuest extensively for newspaper articles I could use as sources, and I also used the State of Black Rochester book we had for class. 2. The second goal of DEPT 199 is to teach you how to analyze and incorporate research into your own argument, position, solution to a problem, or answer to a question. In what ways does your final research paper (the final draft) demonstrates your developing skill in connection with this goal? Point to specific places in the final paper where your arguments, though uniquely your own, have been developed in conversation...
