...Global Macro Research Top of Mind November 13, 2014 Issue 29 Is Europe the Next Japan? From the editor: A slowdown in Euro area growth momentum from an already anemic pace, combined with ongoing concerns about deflation risks, has made comparisons with Japan’s so-called “lost decades” Top of Mind. We ask three experts whether the Euro area is set to repeat Japan’s prolonged period of stagnation and deflation: former BOJ Governor Masaaki Shirakawa (unclear, but Euro area recovery requires addressing the underlying problem of economic integration and not its symptom, deflation), GS Chief European Economist Huw Pill (low growth and even some deflation similar to Japan, in terms of outcome if not in terms of causes, are likely in the short term, but – also akin to Japan – a deflationary spiral is not), and LSE Professor Paul De Grauwe (there is a real risk of this outcome or worse unless policies change). We conclude that Euro area economies and assets could escape Japan’s fate but warn that Euro area stagnation would have a greater impact on the global economy than did Japan’s. ...http://www.innerbody.com/anatomy/muscular-male#full-description The muscular system is responsible for the movement of the human body. Attached to the bones of the skeletal system are about 700 named muscles that make up roughly half of a person’s body weight. Each of these muscles is a discrete organ constructed of skeletal muscle tissue, blood vessels, tendons, and nerves. Muscle tissue is also found inside of the heart, digestive organs, and blood vessels. In these organs, muscles serve to move substances throughout the body.... Muscular System Anatomy Muscle Types There are three types of muscle tissue: Visceral, cardiac, and skeletal. 1. Visceral Muscle. Visceral muscle is found inside of organs like the stomach, intestines, and blood vessels. The weakest of all muscle tissues, visceral muscle makes organs contract to move substances through the organ. Because visceral muscle is controlled by the unconscious part of the brain, it is known as involuntary muscle—it cannot be directly controlled by the conscious mind. The term “smooth muscle” is often used to describe visceral muscle because it has a very smooth, uniform appearance when viewed under a microscope. This smooth appearance starkly contrasts with the banded appearance of cardiac and skeletal muscles. 2. Cardiac Muscle. Found only in the heart, cardiac muscle is responsible for pumping blood throughout the body. Cardiac muscle tissue cannot be controlled consciously, so it is an involuntary muscle....

(monkey see, monkey do).

...Memorandum To: All Team Members From: Laketa Byrd, Project Team Leader Date: April 12, 2015 RE: Delivery issues to Canada due to paperwork with customs Team, as you know, we are having a grand opening for our new market in Canada, however, there are some issues we’re having with the shipment and delivery of items that are being delayed due to paperwork issues we’re having with customs. Since the grand opening is right around the corner, it’s imperative that all team members pull together to address these issues as soon as possible or this could cause many problems for us in this new market. It’s also just as important for the team to come up with ways that will afford us the ability to resolve these issues immediately so that we can continue to do business in this market. As the team leader, my main goal is to minimize the process of completing paperwork as much as possible as well as minimize the long amount of delivery time of our items. Since this is a new venture for us in this market, we all know how important it is for us to be able to deliver the items to our customers as scheduled and ahead of schedule, not behind schedule. With us being held up with the processing of more and more paperwork with customs, this could make it extremely different for us to thrive in this market and be able to attract new and additional customers as well as keep the ones we already have. I think in order for us to get ahead and/or resolve the issues we’re having we need to arrange a...

...When Hospital Paperwork Crowds Out Patient Care When Hospital Paperwork Crowds Out Patient Care Why does it take so long for patients to get care in hospitals and other medical facilitates? Why? Because nurses have to fill out all of the documents required before any care can be given to anyone. While waiting for documentation and approval, many patients health either gets worse or they may die before receiving any medical help. The American Hospital Association (AHA) asked Pircewaterhousecooper (PWC) to survey hospitals and assess the significance of paperwork burden. The results were astounding, they found that paperwork added at least 30 mins to every hour of patient care and in some cases it added an hour to every hour of patient care. It may not look like much, but to a patient waiting for care it may seem like a life time. Theresa Brown wrote an article in the New York Times (Dec.19, 2015) about paperwork taking priority over patient care, one of her comments were. “A nurse could spend ten minutes documenting a patient’s risk of falling or ten minutes trying to keep patients from falling”. Yes documentation is important, it gives information about a patient, their health problems, medications they are taking, any allergies they may have but, shouldn’t a patient’s life be at the top of a healthcare providers list? Hospitals and doctors’ offices could see if medical files can be accessible to them at all times. It would make things much easier for them...

...In Ohio, two school districts brought criminal charges against two homeschool families for failing to file paperwork on time. One of the families filed a notice of intent for the previous school year but was unaware that they had to file another notice of intent for the current school year. The other family, on the other hand, filed the notice of intent, but being told by the school district that the educational assessment has not deadline, failed in filing the assessment before deadline. Consequently, the school district, instead of contacting the parents in regard to the required paperwork early, waited more than a month before contacting them. Both families, when they became aware of the deadline, completed and file all paperwork and in response received a letter stating...
