I had to walk many miles to go to church. God was my close friend as a child. I could not explain how, but he was. As a teenager I spent many days and nights praying asking, “God to help me get away from my parents, because they were abusing me”. God didn’t answer my prayers so I just stopped believing in him. I could not understand how a God that’s so loving and caring would allow someone to hurt his child. How I came to see my need for Christ One night I was going to a party with one a friend. When I was sitting in her vehicle, God spoke to me saying, it was time for me to let go of the hurt and pain I was carrying for so many years. It felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my back. I tried to get rid of the pain by smoking and drinking. God further said, “I have work for you to do, and many things to show you.” I thought I was losing my mind, and wanted to drop off the face of the earth. What did you do to get through the day, week, or month? Did you reach out to a friend, family, spiritual leader, or did you lean on the Word? The word of God is a spoken word powered by faith to achieve a specific purpose, to glorify God The Father. Those who believe in it get the desired personal results to include: healing, deliverance, restoration, and they win battles. The Word gives light, and indeed it is live, gracious, active, and powerful when faith is applied. The Word was written over 500 years ago as a collaboration between God and man guided by the Holy Spirit. It contains a wealth of knowledge wrapped up into sixty- six individual books covering topics such as favor, mercy, faith, grace, and peace just to name a few (Hinds and Towns 1). It speaks to the minds, heart, and souls of both men and women (Hinds and Towns XI). The Word confronts our sin, exposes our selfishness, examines our motives, challenges our presuppositions, calls us to repentance, and asks us to believe it incredible claims, stretches our faith, heals our hurts, blesses our hearts, and soothes our souls (Hinds and Town VII). This paper presents a financial statement analysis that distinguishes leverage that arises in financing activities from leverage that arises in operations. The analysis yields two leveraging equations, one for borrowing to finance operations and one for borrowing in the course of operations. These leveraging equations describe how the two types of leverage affect book rates of return on equity. An empirical analysis shows that the financial statement analysis explains cross-sectional differences in current and future rates of return as well as price-to-book ratios, which are based on expected rates of return on equity. The paper therefore concludes that balance sheet line items for operating liabilities are priced differently than those dealing with financing liabilities. Accordingly, financial statement analysis that distinguishes the two types of liabilities informs on future profitability and aids in the evaluation of appropriate price-to-book ratios. The frequency of these software-project disasters is a serious concern: A recent survey of 600 firms indicated that 35 percent of them had at least one runaway software project.’ Most postmortems of these softwareproject disasters have indicated that their problems would have been avoided or strongly reduced if there had been an explicit early concern with identifylng and resolving their high-risk elements. Frequently, these projects were swept along by a tide of optimistic enthusiasm during their early phases that caused them to miss some clear signals of high-risk issues that proved to be their downfall later. Enthusiasm for new software capabilities is a good thing. But it must be tempered with a concern for early identification and resolution of a project’s high-risk elements so people can get these resolved early and then focus their enthusiasm and energy on the positive aspects of their product.
