Some practitioners are worried that, if public health does not provide appropriate value added services in using new data sources and new analytics opportunities under the ACA, health care providers and other data holders will start to have private sector information companies to provide the analyses and will omit sharing the data with national public health authorities. The shortages of public health informatics experts in the current workforce together with the failure of most public health schools to adopt informatics as a universal public health core competency make this more likely. Two of the workshop scenarios addressed the entry of citizen scientists and other nontraditional workers to help in meeting the informatics deficits, which may lead a reality in an increasing number of jurisdictions. Recommendations These recommendations focus on the mean role of informatics in advancing evidence-based public health practice via stake-holder’s engagement, development of infrastructures, (Roads buildings and power supplies),sharing of data, new data sources developments, dissemination of best practices, and development of workforce. This situation has worsened during the last decade. Poverty deprives people of the assets they are entitled to. It takes away their rights and liberties and it results in a loss of dignity. Now, despite many gains at the macro level and a generally healthy economic outlook, poverty still persists and continues to increase. This trend needs to be reversed. Fight against poverty has always remained on the agenda of the government. There has been a significant focus on poverty reduction through various development schemes and projects. Government of Punjab did not have a special poverty reduction programme as such in the past. This meant that while resources were spent on various poverty alleviation schemes and projects, there was no significant attention paid to the poor as the focal point in such programme. Consequentially we neither had a proper data base on poverty nor were any assessments made of the projects and Programmes vis-à-vis their impact on the lives of the poor.
