...Wireless Technologies Proposal Team D BIS/220 July 30, 2012 Heather Shankwiler Wireless Technologies Proposal Party Plates Company has established the need for a new proposal with wireless technology. Team D will research some marketing tools that will assist Party Plates in meeting their goals of advancement in sales and certain goals. This proposal will focus on wireless technology that will be beneficial to the party plate business. Team D will also provide the pros and cons to these wireless technologies and justification of the choice to incorporate them into Party Plates Company. In the proposal, Team D will also include a spreadsheet presenting the equipment needed for using the technologies and the costs associated with each. The wireless technologies that Team D recommends for Party Plates Company are WIFI and Radio Frequency Identification, also known as RFID. WIFI is a medium-range wireless technology that allows electronic devices to exchange data using radio waves over a computer network. These radio waves are transmitted using an antenna called a wireless access point. (Rainer Jr & Cegieiski, 2011) WIFI will save Party Plates Company the expense paid on having wires installed throughout the company. RFID technology consists of a small chip that is attached to inventory items. These chips include a unique identifier that acts as a barcode or magnetic strip would. RFID technology will allow Party Plates Company to keep up with their...

...Wireless Technologies Proposal BIS/220 Ivon Young Wireless Technologies Proposal Mrs. Smith, the President of Party Plates likes to know about wireless technologies available for her business to use. Currently, her company doesn’t use any wireless technologies. She has asked team D to recommend at least two wireless technologies that would be beneficial to implement her organization. Proposal There are many different options out there that could work to assist in the daily operational activities; two of these technologies that would be most beneficial are handheld terminals and a company e-mail system. When a customer is looking for a product that cannot be found on the shelf in the store, an employee can use the handheld terminal to scan the label on the shelf to see if there is any in stock. If so, they will be able to see where the product is located and quickly locate. Another situation where the handheld terminal is useful is inventory. A Party Plates employee can quickly identify products that are low in stock. Because there are so many functions on the handheld terminals, managers can give the employees codes with passwords to monitor the work that each employee is or is not doing. Another technology that would be very useful to Party Plates is a company e-mail system. A manager may need to get a communication to all employees at one time. With a company e-mail system, doing so would be very easy. Communication could involve hot sales...

...Week 4 Learning Team Wireless Proposal BIS/220 October 21, 2013 Wireless Technology Proposal The following proposal is for Party Plate’s possible introduction of wireless technologies into the work environment. We have identified two wireless technologies that would be beneficial for implementation into the organization. The goal would be for these wireless technologies to help streamline our data management and increase our productivity. Within this proposal we will identify the benefits and the risks of implementing these technologies. In order to succeed and grow in today’s ever-changing business environment it is critical to keep up with changes in new technologies. To be competitive and continue advancing in marketing we must ensure that our staff has the competitive advantage by being able to utilize the latest technologies and data management tools that are available. Our goal as a company is to be able to meet the ever-changing demands of the customer by equipping our staff with the latest marketing data, communication data, and reporting data. Having these abilities would allow for us to research any topic effectively and efficiently. We must also have a platform that allows our internal staff to share sales and marketing information across all of the departments, both in office and out in the field. Customer interaction must be optimized through emails, video conferencing and phone calls. In order to accomplish our goals here at Party Plates we have put together...

However, the current phones have minimal functions. The proposed changes: An upgrade to a wireless local area network (WLAN) would offer Party Plates several benefits. Providing smart phones instead of current phones to the employees would also be valuable. With smart phones the employees would have several functions at their disposal that would make them more efficient. ...Wireless Technologies Proposal Keshia Smith, Joshua Crouch, Amber Kelly, JaLynn Coombs BIS 220 January 16, 2012 Michael Chu Wireless Technologies Proposal Mobile computing and mobile commerce in addition to a traditional computer system is what Party Plates will use to house information for the company at one location that could be accessible by a wireless device as well. If Party Plates want their services readily available, convenient to their customers, and to remain productive; then they may consider the use of wireless devices to compete with other businesses that supply the same services. Mobile services allow Party Plates as well as their customers to access information real-time while connecting from mobile devices and other computing environments. Whether Party Plates use mobile devices or remain in its current position, we are recommending mobile computing and mobile commerce as wireless services to move Party Plates into the future. The pros and cons of each service are listed within this proposal. Mobile computing refers to real-time wireless connection between a mobile device and other computing environments, such as the Internet. These days it is spreading everywhere, at work, at home, in education, health care, entertainment, and in so many other areas. The pros of mobile computing is its mobility to take a small hand held device and go anywhere and its broad reach to just about anywhere instantly [ (Rainer & Cegielski, 2011) ]. Mobile commerce...

...Party Plates Proposal on Wireless Technologies BIS 220 Party Plates Proposal on Wireless Technologies Wireless technologies are a great way to implement growth and organization for Party Plates. Two recommended wireless technologies are cell phones and laptops. In this day in age, cell phones have remarkable functions and capabilities and have the ability to hold as much storage as a PC. Furthermore, cell phones will allow our employees to stay connected, have access to email, customer information, and orders while out in the field. On the other hand, with the use of wireless laptops, Party Plates can work anywhere when a cell phone does not have any service. With the use of a laptop, information can be easily stored and displayed to the corporation’s employees in order to add and make changes. This allows Party Plates employees to organize and manage files without having to waste time in sorting through files that are stored in cabinets. One phone in particular that is great for business is the iPhone 5. While this phone is one of the most expensive on the market, it will be well worth it. The iPhone 5 serves as a phone, camera, video camera, GPS, iPod, and web browser. In addition, the number of applications that can be downloaded on this device is limitless. The iPhone 5 has presentation and spreadsheet capabilities. Letters, flyers, and cards can also be created on the iPhone 5. Ultrabook is a type of laptop that is the latest in technology and great for business...

...Proposal for Implementing Wireless Technologies Objective The objective is to provide a successful implementation of wireless technology that will work well and bring continued success to the growth of our company. Goals Our goal is to implement wireless technologies such as tablets and mobile broadband to allow more effective lines of communication with customers and employees which will increase revenue and productivity to allow continued growth. Benefits of Implementing Implementing wireless technologies into the Party Plates organization has many benefits utilizing such devices as the vast varieties of tablets and hot spot Wi-Fi systems. A few uses with the tablet are as follows the use within “sales support” is vital and can help boost accessibility to the sales representative and give an easier and very mobile use of a sales tool increasing productivity and marketing. As well as giving a new touch to product showcasing one can use a tablet to give a “customer presentation” either through a power point slide or a comprehensive in depth view of our many products and design customizations. Another wireless technology to be considered to implement into Party Plates is the use of wireless hot spot Wi-Fi, in the office many employees are confined to desktop computers. ...Wireless Technologies Proposal Team B BIS/220 October 15, 2013 Instructor Ramin Tabrizi Wireless Technologies Proposal The cliental for Party Plates continues to expand and we would like to continue expanding as the best party planning business worldwide. For Party Plates to continue down this path of maintaining our goals that we have established in making it the successful business it is today, we are suggesting at least two wireless technologies that will help in continuing the financial growth that would not only benefit the company but our employees. These technologies we are suggesting for implementation are Wi-Fi or wireless fidelity and smartphones. This will not only boost growth but it plays a very large part in reducing cost. These cost reductions comes from inventory reduction, speed of transactions, access to markets and suppliers, and efficient supply chain management. Wi-Fi is allows computers, smartphones, or other devices to connect to the internet or communicate with one another wirelessly within a particular area. Because of its reliability and speed, it will help in generating business globally and locally. This will allow Party Plates to market a large variety of products and services worldwide. It will also open up online sales to international markets at a low cost. Wi-Fi allows employees to have access to their jobs assignments via the internet from home or anywhere in the world. The next wireless technology we would like to implement would...

...This research is intended to identify at least two wireless technologies that would be beneficial to implement in the Party Plates organization. Party Plates would like to introduce the iPad and iPhone into our business infrastructure. These wireless technologies will be used as a marketing tool and will advance business objectives. This research will also include a justification for the decision to implement the iPad and iPhone wireless technologies, as well as define the risks of using wireless technologies in the Party Plates work environment. In today’s technological world Party Plates needs to establish a competitive approach in the marketplace with an innovative approach to the technology trends that exist while utilizing marketing tools to advance sales, goals and objectives. The iPad can give us the competitive edge in providing our customers with on site visualization of custom ordered plates and napkins. The iPad gives us the ability to upload all of our plate and napkin designs on one device and share it between departments and with the customers. We can also incorporate personal photos designs into themed party supplies using iPad. We can utilize Apple’s Cloud application to transfer photos of customized orders from one iPad or iPhone to our design department. This can speed up the order processing time. Party Plates has a proven financial sales track record that leverages the company’s strategic mission to provide integrated products based on consumer demands...

...Wireless Technology Proposal In the last decade there has been an increase in portable devices and wireless technology especially in relation to the business world. Party Plates prides itself on being current and our recent move to Access is an example of that philosophy. Recently, however, the company has been plagued by a series of problems such as increased infrastructure costs and a breakdown in customer relationships. The consensus is that wireless technology is the solution. Specifically, Party Plates can benefit from smartphone technology and the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS). Smartphones will transform our sales people into a more versatile and mobile workforce by utilizing the phones ability to function as a workstation. “Mobile devices increasingly are becoming an integral part of workflow applications” (Rainer Jr. & Cegielski, 2011, Chapter 7: Wireless, Mobile Computing, and Mobile Commerce). GPS will tighten our delivery system by providing real-time traffic information to our drivers. These two types of wireless technology will increase Party Plates effectiveness as a company. The smartphone of today acts much like a personal computer, rivaling laptops in processing speed and possessing most of a PC’s applications. A smartphone in the hands of a Party Plates salesperson would be able to meet with customers, place orders, and keep in touch with the office all from the field. The Blackberry Bold 9790, for example, contains an integrated GPS, Wi-Fi...

...Wireless Technology Proposal With the recent efficiency and collaboration upgrades Party Plates has proposed, improving internal communications is the next step toward advancing growth by wireless technology. Party Plates can benefit by implementing new technology that assists in the operations of everyday business. The proposed implementation of two new wireless systems will help advance Paper Plates. The first wireless technology is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system. RFID is a tracking device to ensure products and supplies are currently in stock, received, and shipped accurately and updated daily. RFID makes counting inventory less expensive because extra cost for inventory labor is eliminated. This system is beneficial because inventory is more accurate and reordering products and supplies are easier to perform. The cost of changing the current system of barcodes to RFID will save money with its accuracy of inventory, reordering items, and theft reduction. The second wireless technology is the installation of Electronic Credit Card Processing. This system requires the installation of computer software called Virtual Terminal that sends credit card information to merchants for processing. Paper Plates Internet website allows customers to browse products but not purchase online. Electronic Credit Card Processing allows customers to place orders and pay online. This technology will increase the number of sales from the website. Although the two wireless...

...Wireless Technologies Proposal Party Plates is a party supplies retailer providing everything from plates to jumping houses for children and adult parties. Party Plates offering a wide range of inventory will need the ability to track sales of items sold. Keeping a proper inventory will ensure that Party Plates has available the items their customers desire. The Microsoft Dynamics Point of Sales (POS) Bundle with the Dolphin 9550 Hand Held Wireless Barcode Scanner will provide the technologies needed to encompass Party Plate’s needs and much more. The two systems mentioned above do have pros and cons that could affect the way Party Plates does business daily. The POS Bundle with the Dolphin 9550 Hand Held Wireless Barcode Scanner is an easy to use system once employees are trained by a “Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)” (Microsoft Learning, n.d.). The POS system will help with keeping records, saving time and money, inventory control, and return customer programs. The cons of the POS system is that it relies on the HP 2-GB Intel Dual Core Processor that stores the software to run the system; like most software it can fail or can be corrupted. If the system fails Party Plates will need a separate backup system to maintain the daily business and to keep records of transactions that may have been lost. Another drawback to the system is security and the ability for customer information to be stolen. The initial cost of the system and the hours dedicated...
