...The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake was a megathrust earthquake that occurred underneath the ocean floor. The earthquake occurred sortly after christmas at 00:58:53 UTC on Sunday, 26 December 2004, with an epicenter off the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The quake itself is known by the scientific community as the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake and the tsunami has various names, including the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, South Asian tsunami, Indonesian tsunami, and the Boxing Day tsunami. The earthquake was caused by subduction and triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing over 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 30 meters or 98 ft. high. It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. Indonesia was the hardest-hit country, followed by Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand. The megathrust earthquake was unusually large in geographical and geological extent. An estimated 1,600 kilometres of fault surface slipped (or ruptured) about 15 metres along the subduction zone where the India Plate slides under the overriding Burma Plate. The slip did not happen instantaneously but took place in two phases over a period of several minutes. First the seismographic and acoustic data indicate that the first phase involved a rupture about 400 kilometres long and 100 kilometres wide, located 30 kilometers beneath the sea bed—the largest rupture...

Still, the project has a significant difference between the commercial ones. D) BACKGROUND OF THE STORY Paste is the main topic of our Investigatory project. Paste is usually used everywhere. From offices to schools, from homes to buildings, paste is always present to somehow be a kind of help. We could even say that paste is very important in our living. It could work as an emergency tool by pasting torn books, in making reports, making projects, and etc. By mixing dry or solid ingredients with liquid, a thick, moist, and soft substance, paste, is usually produced. Paste is used to attach light things, commonly papers, together by just applying it to one object to the other. The substance we’re making has only limited hold because it is not that sticky but it is suitable to be used in pasting papers. Our product will help many parents with little children especially to those parents who are very busy at work that they can’t always look up to their children. Since children are really fun of making arts, paste is one of the materials they use. By this product, parents should worry no more about their children who often eat everything they hold. Our product has a unique quality that makes it different from the usual pastes we use. These qualities of our project, homemade paste, is really...

...1. Finance – The management of money by governments and companies. The only role the word finance has in finance is the word itself. It is the definition of what exactly finance is. 2. Efficient Market – A market where all pertinent information is available to all participants at the same time. An efficient market allows for businesses and investors to make the best investment decisions possible based off of current information. 3. Primary Market – The market where companies initially sell stocks that they have been authorized to sell. The primary market allows firms to raise available capital by going public and selling initial stocks. 4. Secondary Market – The market where investors sell and trade previously issued stock. ...Ryland T. Johnson Mrs.Worley Art 1301 PowerPoint Summary Ashurbanipal Hunting lions The Ashurbanipal hunting lion is a 5’4 relief from circa 645-640 B.C.E. It was created for the Assyrian ruler of the Elamite Susua for his palace in Nineveh, Iraq. The Assyrians artists Portrayed archers pursuing enemies as well as royal hunts in and enclosed arena, just like the One depicted in the hunting lion’s relief. Hunting of the lions was a sport reserved for kings. These hunts were symbolic of the ruling monarch’s duty to protect and fight for his people. The kings would often go lion hunting for political and religious purposes. If they were good at Hunting the Gods would favor them. The kings are often portrayed on the plains of Syria but there were no lions so, they had to ship them from Africa. To get a lion out of his cage a servant would lift the gate and start running. The hunting lions would then see the king and the servant and he would the charge them. The king would then ride his chariot with his bow and arrow or spear. In some of the figures I notice that he carries an empty bow, I determined that all the lions were wounded that lie about beneath and past the moving chariot and have been hit by Ashurbipal’s bow. Most hunts by everyday men usually take place in the wild, land of unpredictable outcomes And unknown beasts but a royal hunt would be contained. Containment would allow a controlled environment to ensure the kings safety and...

...Animal Interactions Essay Of course there are numerous stories of animals viciously attacking other animals and news segments showcasing how brutal animals can be to humans, but all animals aren’t competitive (when organisms try to obtain food, water, space, sunlight, and other resources at the same place and time) in nature. If one were to hear that statement, they might think that animals are only agreeable within their own population of species, but this is also not true. Undomesticated animals have a bad reputation of being very competitive, which is a common misconception among many people. Symbiosis, the predator-prey cycle, and mimicry are all three common forms of organism interactions that are not competitive. No organism lives in complete isolation, which means that there will always be some sort of interaction between organisms. This can be described as symbiosis, a Greek rooted word meaning “living together”. Symbiosis entails the many relationships an organism can have with another organism; the one that is most beneficial to this essay would be mutualism. Mutualism is an interaction between two or more organisms where both/all organisms are benefited. Sea anemones and anemone fish have great mutualistic relationships such as how the sea anemones use their tentacles to protect the anemone fish away from predators while the anemone fish protect the sea anemones from butterflyfish. Even though animals may consume each other, they still help one another by...

...Chapter 5 Summary There are many different kinds of ink. In our experiment, we will use tea bags as the main component of our ink. Having two different set-ups will provide the chance to compare the colors and consistencies. Cornstarch is an efficient additive to have the right consistency of the product. Also vinegar is also efficient, though there is no obvious change in color, it was seen that it gave the ink a consistent color whether wet or dry. Conclusion *Tea bags can be used to create an ink. *Vinegar can strengthen the color of the product, ink. *Cornstarch effectively contributes to achieving to the right consistency of the ink. *The processes boiling and straining are efficient in taking the extract out of the tea bags. We therefore conclude that one can create an improvised ink using the extract from tea bags. This will be very convenient and cheap because the ingredients to be used are commonly found around the house. Also, the said processes, boiling and straining, are efficient and can be easily done. Recommendation Based on the conducted experiment ,we recommend the following for futher improvements. To have better results of extraction, suggest that there would be longer minutes of boiling. We also recommend that one should make use of a large amount of cornstarch, a thickening agent, so the application of ink would be done easier. Instead of directly placing your desired amount of cornstarch in the...

...2 tsp Black Pepper Spaghetti Sauce: ¾ cup chopped onion 5 cloves garlic, minced ¼ cup olive oil 2 (28 ounce) cans Tomato Sauce 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon white sugar 1 bay leaf 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste ¾ teaspoon dried basil ½ teaspoon ground black pepper 1. In a Large Saucepan over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until onion is translucent. 2. Stir in Tomato sauce, Salt, Sugar, and the Bay Leaf. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 90 minutes (stir occasionally to avoid burning on the bottom of the pan) 3. For the meatballs, all we did was hand mix the ingredients together and then form them into about 1 inch balls, my grandfather got a golf ball for refrence. 4. In a Large sauce pan, fill it to about a half inch on vegetable oil on Medium-high heat (you could always do a thin layer of oil in the pan, but you will have to rotate the meatballs constantly, for the amount we were doing, it was easiest to just set them in the oil, once one side was a nice brown color, we flipped them over and did the same on the other side (I think we made about 400 meatballs though) you don’t want to cook them all the way through just yet. Set aside on paper towels and cover in foil until needed. 5. Stir in Tomato Paste, Basil, ½ tsp Black pepper and the meat balls and simmer for about 30 minutes or until meatballs are done and sauce is at a desired thickness (add water and stir if needed) 6. ...variety of fruit and vegetable products. This particular problem deals with three tomato-products: 1. Whole tomato cans 2. Tomato juice 3. Tomato paste cans Production objective is to define such product mix, which will bring maximum total profit, subject to various production constraints. General objective function can be defined as (1) Since three different products are discussed here, this function can be also expressed as (1a) where - total revenue of whole tomato, tomato juice and tomato paste respectively - total production cost of whole tomato, tomato juice and tomato paste respectively Total revenue and total cost of each of the products can be calculated with respect to units of product produced (sold), unit price and unit cost of product. For whole tomato this can be expressed as follows: (2) (2a) where - units of the whole tomato sold - price of the unit of whole tomato - cost per unit of whole tomato Similarly, total revenue and total cost may be calculated for tomato juice (3) (3a) and for tomato paste (4) (4a) where - units of the tomato juice and tomato paste sold, respectively - unit price of the tomato juice and tomato paste, respectively - cost per unit tomato juice and tomato paste, respectively Therefore, equation for total profit can now be written as follows: (5) MODEL FORMULATION Decision Variables ...
