An analysis of quit attempts made by Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) category shows the largest numbers to be in the most deprived categories and the smallest in the least deprived, Scottish Household Survey estimates (2005/2006) of smoking prevalence by deprivation quintiles show a smoking prevalence rate of 41% in the most deprived areas and 13% in the least deprived areas.
