Break Free!!! Fight for what you believe in because one day when everything is in total chaos there will be no one left to help you, so what are you waiting for? Patrick Henry is trying to get people to rebel against Great Britain. In Patrick Henry's speech he uses logic to show what was wrong, using emotions to get others to feel what he feels, and uses ethics by giving his opinion. Patrick Henry had no way of knowing what the future may hold, but based on the past he has a fair idea of the outcome. "I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided; and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way judging of the future, but the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the conduct of the …show more content…
He starts off by saying, "Should i keep back my opinion at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty towards the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings" ( Henry 263). Patrick Henry is using ethics to pursued others to rebel against Great Britain by not holding back his opinion on what he has experienced. He is saying you should not have any fear when speaking up for what you believe in. Also, if he were to keep back his opinion, he is betraying himself, his country and God. Patrick Henry was also apologizing in case he has given any offense. He is speaking his thoughts out loud to How long must you keep quiet? When will you finally speak up for yourself, when everything around you is in total chaos? When Great Britain finally has a gun pointed to your head or when they've already taken away everything to held dear to you? How much more do you have to endure to realize what's going on around you, isn't right? Patrick Henry's speech uses logic, pathos, and ethos to persuade others to join him in breaking away from Great Britain. Logos to tell others that history may repeat itself if we don't do anything, pathos by telling them that we are not a bunch of slaves, and ethos by giving his opinion and not having any fear while doing

Early American Ideas: Patrick Henry

...Dao 1 Mary A. Dao English 3P, Period 1 Ms. Alba 2nd November, 2015 Early American Ideas: Patrick Henry It is how people treat their peers, human nature. The human nature that can be found in Americans is like no other. The American is a strong, proud, and passionate man. Mr. Patrick Henry seems to have proved the previous statement quite accurately with his logical and emotional appeal. For example, Henry states “Sir, we are not weak, if we make a proper use of the means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. Three millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us.”( ¶ 3 Page 2). This quote explains Henry’s definition of human nature, where he thinks that all American’s have the ability to come up and fight together against any enemy in their path....

How Did The Boston Massacre Contribute To The American Revolution

...Led by well-known individuals such as Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Patrick Henry, the Sons of Liberty directed Colonial America through the American Revolution. The fourth of July is a day in which every American celebrates his or her independence; through the actions of the Sons of liberty, this became possible. The Sons of Liberty was a group of likeminded colonists who believed that the thirteen American colonies should no longer be a part of Great Britain. Through a combination of organized protests against wrongful taxation, the Sons of Liberty established America’s freedom. A strong rebellion created and nourished by the Sons of Liberty in 18th century America represents one of the greatest achievements of civil disobedience. The group of shopkeepers, rebels, and artisans met in the Summer of 1965 to discuss the problems with the recently imposed Stamp Act and Sugar Act. The Stamp Act required that paper products used in the colonies, such as...

Legendary Speech

...Famous for his “Give me Liberty or Give me Death” speech that he gave in 1775, Patrick Henry had a huge impact on the Revolutionary War in many different ways, but his most known call to action was his outstanding and mesmerizing speech. Henry played huge role in America’s resistance to the English. Being the Governor of Virginia, he contributed a great amount in the making of the war. In fact, Henry played such a leadership role in preparation for the fighting, that historians today refer to him as the “Sword of the War.” Even as a young man, Henry was known to stand up against the English’s policies due to his protesting against the Stamp Act. However, this was only the beginning of his resistance to the French for this rebellion would in time lead up to his incredible leadership in promoting the Revolutionary War and the life changing speech that he gave. Using nothing but his words, Henry motivated the colonists to fight by explaining his thoughts without being disrespectful and showing them what would happen if they were to hold back. Henry’s speech was one of the greatest deciding factors that led the colonies into war, and, for this reason, it is still one of the most important speeches that has ever been given. What was so important that pushed Henry to give his speech? When Henry gave his speech in the third Virginia convention, his number one goal was to cause the other men, who were the ones in charge of the thirteen colonies, to agree with his beliefs in that...

Bloodlines of the Illuminati

...Bloodlines of Illuminati by: Fritz Springmeier, 1995 Introduction: I am pleased & honored to present this book to those in the world who love the truth. This is a book for lovers of the Truth. This is a book for those who are already familiar with my past writings. An Illuminati Grand Master once said that the world is a stage and we are all actors. Of course this was not an original thought, but it certainly is a way of describing the Illuminati view of how the world works. The people of the world are an audience to which the Illuminati entertain with propaganda. Just one of the thousands of recent examples of this type of acting done for the public was President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address. The speech was designed to push all of the warm fuzzy buttons of his listening audience that he could. All the green lights for acceptance were systematically pushed by the President’s speech with the help of a controlled congressional audience. The truth on the other hand doesn’t always tickle the ear and warm the ego of its listeners. The light of truth in this book will be too bright for some people who will want to return to the safe comfort of their darkness. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I deal with real facts, not theory. Some of the people I write about, I have met. Some of the people I expose are alive and very dangerous. The darkness has never liked the light. Yet, many of the secrets of the Illuminati are locked up tightly simply because secrecy is a way...
