By: Amelia l. Did you know that Paul Revere was also an amateur dentist? Well, he is, and in this biography about him, you will learn more about him. Paul Revere was born in Boston, MA, on January 27, 1734. He died in Boston on May 10,1818. Read on to learn more about Paul's childhood, family and impact on the world. Paul grew up in Boston and was the son of a French immigrant Apollos Rivoire. His father was a silversmith and Paul was to be one, too. He attended school, but left at 13 to be an apprentice with his father. Paul's father died shortly after, though. Paul, who was to take over his father's shop, was too young to own it himself. So at a younger age, fought as a militia officer in the French and Indian war, and when he was older, returned to claim his father’s shop as his own. …show more content…
This was a major impact on our history. The British were coming to Massachusetts to capture the Patriots John Hancock and John Adams. The Sons Of Liberty sent Paul to alert all the other Patriots in Lexington, Concord, to warn them so that they can protect the weapons stored there. Paul went and along the way, he got help from two other riders, William Dawes and Charles Prescott. Together, the riders headed off to Lexington, to warn the others. Along the ride, there were British soldiers marching towards Boston. Dawes and Prescott almost got caught, but escaped. Unfortunately, Paul was. Paul gave up and told the British the Patriots plan, and they let him go. Although Paul did not make it to Lexington, he was

Book Report On The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell

...When something big happens unexpectedly, people respond in different ways. Anything small can impact something big. In the book, The Tipping Point, small expected and unexpected events lead to significant changes. This book by Malcolm Gladwell contains numerous examples of how little things can make big differences. Significant changes can occur from the slightest of impacts; these impacts can be caused intentionally, can be caused unintentionally, and, in the end, can cause epidemics. Minor, unintentional events can have big impacts on a society. First, sometimes events happen accidentally and cause big changes, like the flu for example. Gladwell states,“The ones causing the epidemic to grow —the ones who were infecting two and three and...

Is the Right to Bear Arms Ethical

...Senior Research Project: Is the right to bear arms ethical? Lucas Van Duyn Senior Seminar: Business Ethics Dr. Jewe July 31, 2012 Introduction to the Project: In the United States, research into firearms and violent crime is fraught with difficulties, associated with limited data on gun ownership and use, firearms markets, and aggregation of crime data. Research studies into gun violence have primarily taken one of two approaches: case-control studies and social ecology. Gun ownership is usually determined through surveys, proxy variables, and sometimes with production and import figures. In statistical analysis of homicides and other types of crime, which are rare events, these data tend to have poison distributions, which also presents methodological challenges to researchers. (Just Facts, 2010) Americans own an estimated 270 million firearms, approximately 90 guns for every 100 people. In 2009, guns took the lives of 31,347 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. This is the equivalent of more than 85 deaths each day and more than three deaths each hour. 66,769 Americans were treated in hospital emergency departments for non-fatal gunshot wounds in 2009. Firearms were the third-leading cause of injury-related deaths nationwide in 2009, following poisoning and motor vehicle accidents. Between 1955 and 1975, the Vietnam War killed over 58,000 American soldiers – less than the number of civilians killed with guns in the U.S. in an average...
