The two poems Paul Revere’s Ride and Barbara Frietchie include similarities, but despite their numerous similarities they also include differences. Both poems include different settings, objectives, enemies, and endings. Although they are different they include a noble and heroic hero, a similar conflict, similar events, and loyalty. In addition, by remembering the actions of these characters we can learn a thing or two to not commit the same mistakes. Although these poems are different but similar, they have an impact on today. One way the two poems differ is their setting, Paul Revere’s Ride was based on the night of April 18, 1775, differing from Barbara Frietchie which was in 1862 during the Civil War. In addition, the enemies from each poem were unlike, in the poem Paul Revere’s Ride the main objective was to warn the civilians from the British, on the other hand, the main enemy in the poem Barbara Frietchie was the Confederate troops with their two leaders.
