Pearl Harbor, the awakening of the Sleeping Giant. December 7, 1941 a historic day, “that will live in infamy”, words once busting out from a magnificent and glorious leader, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, which soon will start the amazing up roar of The United States of America. Many lives were taken in this sneak attack, when the Japanese air fleet attempted to take out ninety percent of our navel army, thus crippling the United States of America. The first error was planning a sneak attack on America. The Japanese thought it was a great idea to attack America and other Country’s just to expand their empire and to cripple the United States of America because they had fear that we were going to get in their way thus creating the concept of attacking the closest but critical area of the United States. The Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, conceived the idea of The Pearl Harbor assault, and Captain Minoru Genda planned the attack (Attack at Pearl Harbor, 1941, - the Japanese View). The error that really stopped the Japanese from actually crippling the United States was that they did not attack the resources as they had come to American territory to do, but the thing that stopped them was the American defenses. Due to their error America was not fully crippled, and thus started the up roar of The United States of America. “If the Japanese were able to take out our resources”, the crippling of this great country would have led to devastation and defeat (Pearl Harbor Vet Remembers). The attack on Pearl Harbor was a complete surprise; “he believed a Japanese attack was much more likely to take place around the South China Sea, against Malaya, Thailand or the Philippines.” ,said Admiral Husband E. Kimmel (Beevor 250). This attack was even a surprise for the Admiral, if we knew about this attack we would be able to defend our army and lower the amount of deaths. When Japan assaulted Hawaii, the connection between the president and the survivors of Pearl Harbor took a while to connect to. The connection was also questionable because it was not secure, but the president wanted to know what happened. After the news Franklin D. Roosevelt created a speech that will inspire everyone and anyone in the United States of America, the speech is still respected now. After Franklin D. Roosevelt’s speech America got to work, tons of men were recruited for war and to take the jobs of the men where the women, this was truly revolutionary. If the Japanese never attacked America, Japan and Germany would have won the war and who knows where we would be now.
