Peggy Pascoe's book What Comes Naturally was a surprisingly easy to read and extremely interesting work. She tackles an issue that is often studied, but takes her own spin on it. Her book takes a unique approach to miscegenation laws. She does not look at the issue as simply being about race alone. She looks at race, gender, economic interests, sexuality, and what is "natural" vs. "unnatural". She argues that this segregation was the "foundation of larger racial projects of white supremacy and white purity." (6) Admittedly, I found the first half of her book slightly repetitive, using various examples to make a similar point. The second half, had a much more story-like narrative and captured my interest a bit more. That being said, I did enjoy
