...Perception allows the individual to provide value to sensory information that they are exposed to. It involves the process of organizing, identifying, and interpreting sensory information to understand the situation. For instance, when a student reads a letter, word or sentence they gain recognition associated with this undertaking (O’Donnell, Reeve & Smith, 2012, p. 227). Attention permits the individual to focus their mind on objects, concepts, or concentrating on others; it is selective. For example, when a teacher is teaching a lesson the students that focus their attention on what is being taught will be better equipped with processing the information. Students that are unable to focus their attention are prone to misinterpret information...

...Perception and Attention (Introduction) Senses effect a person’s brain information reflecting on the way a person perceives information. The five major senses are vision, audition, touch, taste, and smell. If one or more of a person’s senses is not working properly then it can affect their perception. According to Robinson-Reigler and Robinson-Reigler (2008), "early selection theories propose that the processes whereby we designate information for further processing occur as the information is first registered by the senses" (p. 16) . In order to remember things they gain a person’s attention the person has to stay focused. According to Robinson-Reigler and Robinson-Reigler (2008), "because you simply can’t process all of the information in the environment at once, there needs to be some type of mechanism(s) for directing attention. In this paper the concept of perception will be defined. Also in this paper the perceptual organizational process will be broken down. The concept of attention will be defined within this paper. This paper will include an analysis of the nature of the attention processes. This paper will also explain the relationship between perception and attention. The Relationship between Perception and Attention Perception and attention have a relationship between each of these terms. A person must be focused on something so that they can learn about the object. The amount of attention that a person places on the object has an influence on the way that the...

...Cognitive Development and Aging Paper Psych/640 Cognitive development and Aging Paper As people age their bodies go through a lot of changes physically as well as psychologically. As humans age normally they undergo changes in their brain which affect cognitive functioning and development. Each person is different so the age-related changes in the structure of the brain and in its function as well as in cognition and cognitive domains are not uniform across the whole brain, nor are the uniform across individuals. This means that some of the changes that a person goes through due to aging another person may not experience. The two basic cognitive functions that are affected most by a person aging is attention and memory (Glisky, 2007). The thing that a person needs to know is that memory and attention are not unitary functions; there are multiple parts to both functions some of which may not be affected by a person aging while others are affected. According to the Glisky (2007), perception in a person as the person ages declines due to declining sensory capacities which can impact the cognitive functions later in a person. Perception is a person’s senses such as touch, sight, taste, and smells which is why some people believe that it is actually a precognition function. According to Anderson (2010), perception is the sensory experience of the world around individuals which involve recognition of environmental stimuli as well as actions in response to the stimuli. What...

...psychological contracts Aaron Cohen Department of Public Administration, School of Political Science, University of Haifa, Haifa, Israel Abstract Purpose – This paper seeks to examine whether individual values are related to perceptions of psychological contracts and psychological contract breach when justice perceptions are taken into account. Design/methodology/approach – The study sample comprised staff employees of one of the largest banks in Israel. The sample included 311 employees in the head office of this bank. Data were collected from the employees over a period of about three months. Findings – The findings show a modest relationship between individual values and perceptions of a relational type of psychological contract. The findings show weaker relationships between the values, perceived transactional-type contracts, and perceptions of contract breach. Research limitations/implications – The study relied upon a cross-sectional design. Such a design consists of a single observation with no control groups, and so cannot be used to draw conclusions about causal relationships between the variables. In addition, the study examined only one professional group in one culture. Practical implications – The significant relationship between conservation and self-transcendence values and perceptions of relational-type contracts suggests that organizations should take this into account when making hiring and human resource (HR) management decisions. Originality/value...

...information in-store, the product's package can contain relevant and useful information for the consumer. Product packaging forms the end of the 'promotion-chain' and is close in time to the actual purchase and may therefore play an important role in predicting consumer outcomes. Packages also deliver brand identification and label information like usage instructions, contents, and list of ingredients or raw materials, warnings for use and directives for care of product. INTRODUCTION “Packaging is the container for a product – encompassing the physical appearance of the container and including the design, color, shape, labeling and materials used” Packaging has a huge role to play in the positioning of products. Package design shapes consumer perceptions and can be the determining factor in point-of-purchase decisions which characterize the majority of shopping occasions In recent years the marketing environment has become increasingly complex and competitive. ...Intro Many factors go into the process a consumer has to deal with when negotiating through the process of buying goods and services. There are psychological and social processes that may have an influence consumer behavior. Some of those influences come from the process developed by the marketing communications. There is also a relationship between the consumer traits and their purchasing behaviors that will be evaluated in this paper. Culture also is important to consumer behavior and can affect regional and social needs. Finally, consumers are analytical and can interpret marketing messages to benefit their needs. All these points will be evaluated and explored in this paper on consumer traits and behaviors. Psychological and Social Processes that Influence Consumer Behavior Consumers are driven by the desire to satisfy needs when they decide to make a purchase. Many of these needs are considered to be our Innate or primary needs. These needs are the physiological needs that we, as humans, require to help keep us alive, things such as food, air, water, shelter and sex. The satisfying of these physical needs are only a part, although a major one, of what drives us to buy the things we need. The problem with humans is that we are not completely satisfied with meeting our physical needs, but we also have to satisfy our Acquired needs or secondary needs. Just like the satisfaction of our innate needs helps us to feel good about our physical self. The...
