In todays corporate world its important that employees have a set track to follow. A track that monitors their progress, where they need to improve, and where they are succeeding. This track is an evaluation called a performance appraisal. Performance appraisal is the process through which employee performance is assessed, feedback is provided to the employee, and corrective action plans are designed. (Youssef, C. (2012)). Not only are performance appraisals important for the employee but also they’re incredibly beneficial to the company. It allows them to look back on the efficiency and effectiveness of the company as well as how their core fundamentals are being implemented. Performance appraisals can heighten an employee’s performance as well as lower it; in this paper we will be discussing the affects of appraisals as well as the importance of them on a company. In most situations Performance Appraisals are used as generic reviews that help to evaluate situations and come to a certain outcome, I will also be using first hand experiences with writing and delivering performance appraisals. There are several different forms of performance appraisals, the most known are 45 day review, 60 day review, annual review, or an opportunity check. 45 day and 60 day review are pretty self explanatory, this is a performance review for a new employee after they have worked the required amount of time. These reviews sum up the company standards, work expectations, and how the employee measures up. In some cases these reviews are delivered and an employee may be terminated if its not the right fit. With that being said if the employee has no major call outs then they usually get moderate feedback and can continue with their job. An Annual review is

...On Monday, March 18th I attended my second College of Charleston Dance Concert. This year’s concert was entitled “Landmark”. The title embodies the triumph of this landmark year in which CofC is now offering a dance major. Each of the pieces was concentrated on the idea of a landmark in the sense of the choreographer’s direction. With the subject being so broad, there was an excellent array of styles, themes, and performance. The Jazz piece entitled “Take Five” was choreographed by Julianna Hane. The piece was inspired by the 1920s jazz clubs and combined the authentic style of the time with contemporary movement. thought the costumes were absolutely wonderful. The bright, bold colors that contrasted against eachother brought life to the piece. The dance started and ended the same, with the one guy walking onto the stage (and then exiting at the end). His quirk drew my attention and I was immediately drawn in. At the beginning I thought the movement was a tad slow-going. I was hoping to see a more “va-va-voom” like dance because of the inspiration behind the piece, the roaring 20s. I expected to have a more sultry draw as well. One part that really stood out to me was the little solo section. I thought the concept of the group dancing in the circle and taking turns to individually have the spotlight was great.
