When dealing with accountability Rena handles more personal accountability most of the paperwork is done by the psychologist on staff. Personal accountability for Rena focuses on communication with clients, and the setting of boundaries with those clients. Boundaries are very important because it is what keeps a counselor safe. Once a boundary is set “I do not let my clients push boundaries with me that is how accidents happen. (Rogers)” In her line of work her clients will test their limits to see what they can get away with, and if they smell weakness they will take advantage of it. This will be detrimental to client, the bond with the counselor, and can have dangerous outcomes. As she makes her way to he desk she can see the mountain of case files left over from the other night and some how they seem to have multiplied. She sits at her desk and wonders “Where the hell do I start (Rena).” She starts by making a sub pile for anything she is waiting on more information for, or just can’t be worked on at the moment. She finishes up the files from last night as much as she can, and then after lunch and her third cup of coffee she starts on the pile, by organizing and dividing into categories and sub categories. She tried not to make appointments this day because she needed to catch up on the paperwork, on other days she has appointments between the hours spent on paperwork on an average day she can see up to 20 people depending on the day. She downs one more cup of coffee and heads home to other job motherhood. I asked which was more demanding and she said “They are all my kids, and I love them all like my…show more content… When your reading about cases and laws it seems like a lot of information to memorize mainly the legal jargon when in reality the laws are put into laments terms. I also learned that the job isn’t as complicated as the text book makes it out to be when we are reading the book everything seems so overwhelming because it’s a lot to remember, but when you have been working for several years it becomes second nature to you. As far as the differences I think the main thing I learned is that we do not have to be involved in every counseling organization because there are a lot out there so we should narrow it down to the ones that interest us the most. A well seasoned counselor has many organizations they belong to, but they have their favorites which are the ones they are usually more active on. I also learned that we have to pace ourselves we can’t learn it all in one
