...Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: Peer Review Ryan J. Bartholomeo Grand Canyon University Spirituality and Christian Values in Health Care and Wellness April 25, 2013 Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: First Draft Knowledge and acceptance are one of the two most important factors when discussing the diversity of faith expressions and belief systems of patients as a health care provider. For this assignment, I decided to research Christianity and one other diverse faith group; interviewing said friend about her faith, Naturalism. In the health care industry, health care providers whose spiritual beliefs differ from their own personal beliefs are a common issue. Learning how to appropriately and respectfully handle each individual’s diversity and faith or belief system is of the upmost importance within the health care industry. Interview Assessment Analysis When conducting my interview with my close friend, Asyia Aanandi, asking a wide range of questions on her faith was required for further assessment; furthermore, the best way to incorporate Asyia’s beliefs of a Naturalist toward her philosophy of providing care from the perspective of her faith. Asyia Aanandi’sAanandi spiritual beliefs are that of a Naturalist, believing in only one single notion; Homo-sapiens feel, think, and act on, due to “chemical reactions” inside ones brain and body. Naturalism is the belief that as humans, acting on...

Abstract The subject of electrical hazards analysis has been recognized by a small segment of the electrical industry for many years. The petrochemical industry and many government institutions have performed research on this subject for over twenty years. For the most part however, the electrical industry, at least at the user level, has largely ignored the subject, essentially reacting to catastrophic accidents, rather than proactively trying to predict and prevent them. Recent changes in consensus standards, along with a better general understanding of the seriousness of electrical hazards have resulted in a renewal of interest in the subject. As the awareness of electrical hazards increase many are puzzled by phrases like; “Limited”, “Restricted”, and “Prohibited Approach...

...Hierarchical Analysis of Industries Classes, categories, forms, brands Product hierarchy is a term which defines the way a product is relative to other products in the same industry. It guides the path and process a consumer takes to determine the products we choose and we eventually purchase. To start off we look at a basic need that our ultimate choice serves. After we identify the need and determine which industry will satisfy it we are faced with decisions. Which class of products in that industry will deliver that type of product? The different classes all serve a need that is relative to each other but may not serve the specific need. This is where we identify which category of product we are looking for. Here we will find products that serve similar functions and may be marketed to the same customer groups. To further narrow down our choices we must then select a product form that may serve a specific function. This is where we find the exact product that fills the ultimate need. Finally we make our end choice by choosing the brand of that product that will purchase. The actual number of levels in the hierarchy depends on how much more detailed or defined the need is. For example if someone wants soap and their only need is to clean something generic, they wouldn’t dig deeper into the types of soap they are looking for rather than looking for a specific type of cleaning agent for granite counter tops for example. To further explain and give examples of how a...

...sender, a recipient, a message, and transactions. Those transactions can be verbal or nonverbal, oral or written, personal or impersonal, and issue oriented or relationship oriented, to name a few of their characteristics (Northouse & Northouse, 1998). The objective of this paper is to present information on health care communication and how the relevancy of effective personal and professional health care communication can affect other healthcare professionals, clients, and patients. Additionally, this paper will provide information on how the relevancy of effective professional health care communication is to health outcomes and how the lack of effective personal and professional communication contributes to poor health outcomes. Last, theories, and principles of therapeutic communication in the health care setting also will be clarified. Among many definitions, health care communication can be labeled as a method, which permits the health care provider and patient to articulate and provide data, opinions, and thoughts in an effort to build a mutual perceptive about a particular health concern. Moreover, in the health care setting, another definition of health communication consists of vital strategies to enlighten the public about health apprehensions and to maintain significant health issues on the public plan. The way one communicates affects everything in health care. Whether speaking to patients and family members, discussing in a group meetings, and so forth, communication...

...Value Chain Analysis M. Porter introduced the generic value chain model in 1985. Value chain represents all the internal activities a firm engages in to produce goods and services. VC is formed of primary activities that add value to the final product directly and support activities that add value indirectly. Michael Porter published the Value Chain Analysis in 1985 as a response to criticism that his Five Forces framework lacked an implementation methodology that bridged the gap between internal capabilities and opportunities in the competitive landscape. This framework focused on industry attractiveness as a determinant of the profit potential of all companies within that particular industry. However, significant differences in performance exist between companies operating within the same industry that can be explained either by the company's participation in a successful strategic group or by a firm's specific competitive advantages. THE VALUE CHAIN DEFINED The idea of a value chain was first suggested by Michael Porter (1985) to depict how customer value accumulates along a chain of activities that lead to an end product or service. Porter describes the value chain as the internal processes or activities a company performs “to design, produce, market, deliver and support its product.” He further states that “a firm’s value chain and the way it performs individual activities are a reflection of its history, its strategy, its approach to implementing its strategy, and the underlying...

...Health Law and Regulations Overview This paper discusses the design of regulation agencies and the roles that they play in health care. There will also be a discussion on the current laws that health care face today, and an analysis on how these laws affect the hospital, clinic or insurer. This paper also includes how the population has little access to health care and an understanding of how HIPPA works and the role that it plays in the health care field. Healthcare The purpose of regulations is the constant need to balance the objectives of enhancing the quality, expanding access, and controlling costs in healthcare. Regulation plays a major role in the healthcare industry and healthcare insurance coverage. Through various regulatory bodies, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) protects the public from a number of health risks and provides programs for public health and welfare. Together, these regulatory agencies protect and regulate public health at every level ( Fierce Healthcare, 2014, para. 1). When it comes to health care there are many agencies that play a role in the management of the health care industry such as, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) which deals with most of the regulations that deal directly to the healthcare system, they also “provides government subsidized medical coverage through a number of programs: Medicare, Medicaid, and State Children’s Health Insurance program (SCHIP)” (Fierce Healthcare, 2014, para. 2). ...I. Introduction Cecillio Kwok Pedro recognized an opportunity in producing aluminum toothpaste tubes for Colgate and Unilever and by 1977; he invested and opened Aluminum Container Inc. It was the start of his battle against entrenched giants to becoming the number one toothpaste producer in the Philippines. However, in 1986, a new packaging arrived and the two multinational companies (MNC) decided to switch to plastic tubing. Instead of closing down, Pedro decided to use his machinery and make and offer his own toothpaste. Knowing little about toothpaste, he had technical tie-up with a Japanese company and Lamoiyan Corporation was formally launched in 1988 and produced the first tube of Hapee. Sales have been thwarted by three significant barriers: consumer fears that locally produced goods were inferior, their preference for Colgate’s taste and the lack of awareness of the Hapee brand. Pedro and Lamoiyan Corporation counteracted these obstacles by capitalizing on their tie-up with a Japanese company, imitating Colgate’s taste and doing aggressive promotional strategies like sponsoring the Philippine Olympic team. Pedro also signed an exclusive contract with Sesame Street and featured the characters. Hapee created a niche in the kids market. Hapee toothpaste entered the market at a 50% discount and the multinationals made no move to combat the band. Hapee then dropped to 30% discount and soon, captured 20% market share. The entry of Hapee to the market didn’t...
